Top 150 Games poll - Best Gauntlet character

Post by Darran@Retro Gamer » Thu Nov 05, 2015 12:05 pm

Here everyone, we've got the contents for the greatest games feature that we ran earlier on the year for several months and will be collating all the information in our 150th issue.
because we're keen on as much input for readers as possible (it's your list after all) we're also constructing several polls and this is the first.

Thanks everyone.

I'll have to go for the Wizard as it was the first character I ever chose when I played this in an arcade way back when :D

I always go with warrior. Throwing axes the size of your body seems the most effective way to clear a dungeon!

None of them. They're all to whiny. 'Elf needs food badly'. I've got my own problems to worry about, don't need yours.

I always went for the speed of the elf with valkyrie as my second choice, while one of my friends was always the barbarian. It was a good team. We'd routinely play with another friend who would waver between wizard and valkyrie.

I usually played the Elf, as his magic power was quite strong and he was good at range. Getting in too close to the generators was always risky...

I have to go with the Warrior, I liked to play as him because quite frankly, he has the body I always wanted.

I used to play as the Elf too, but switched to the Wizard for more magic power. Does he have more shot power too? I could never figure out if there were more subtle stats behind the shooting of monsters than simply one, two or three-hits to kill. I've got a feeling the Wizard could sometimes take down the three-hit monsters with two shots, but that may have involved a pickup bonus.

I always loved playing the Wizard. There's just something so appealing about lobbing fireballs all over the place - and his magic attacks were enough to clear the entire screen too.

"Blue Wizard needs food badly" - I find it to be the most iconic character (voted), but the best to play is the elf IMO.

I was thinking "I have that book", but it turns out that one is particularly depressing.

The book I have on the shelf has a somewhat more serious title, but is less sombre with its subject matter.

The Elf. What he lacks in armour, hand-to-hand combat(his dagger) and missile weapon power(his arrows) - he makes up for in speed and his magical power abilities.

Didn't know those, but I think there might be a band or song with a similar name.
