Re: Discuss Time! 149
I've only ever collected games I owned as a child, so there is alot of nostalgia in my collecting, therefore I tend to only buy games in as good a condition as possible. I will always buy games that are complete, at the very least. Since my collection as a child was quite limited, I have the luxury of being able to splash out a bit more for a game in great condition. Money is no object for me when it comes to reliving a childhood memory.
Re: Discuss Time! 149
I play games not boxes. As long as the cart or disks work, I don't care.
Re: Discuss Time! 149
I'd love to go for CIB's but it can increase the cost hugely.
As long as it works, I'm happy.
Also depend on the system. Of my 300+ Atari carts, probably about 30 are CIB.
Also the storage for those would be huge.
And who needs/reads instruction manuals?

As long as it looks like it'll work i'm happy. Even more so if it's a disc as opposed to cartridge, just takes a whiff of a smudge for some consoles to reject a game.

for cart based stuff, as long as it will clean up nicely then thats great. If its something on a disc, I am much more fussy and don't like badly marked discs and have been known to get them resurfaced, much to the bemusement of staff in Game that don't think they are worth doing.

I'm not a collector, I'm a player. I want it to work, and that's it.

Why care about the weather
It always ends in dark

Don't buy a lot of older games - occasionally pick up an old Game Gear game, as long as it works and the price is right I'm happy, you can always find instructions on the net.

Re: Discuss Time! 149
For me it depends. If I find a game that i'm searching for and I find it loose, I buy it (obviously if it's cheap) and the I wait for the complete version. When/if i find it, usually i give for free the loose game to a friend of mine or I sell it for the next quest. Complete games are great, but there are some - like Zelda series for Nes - that probably are best when they are loose (withe gold cartridge).

Condition matters as i want a game to work. However it coming in a box with the manual is a different kettle of fish. Certain series' yes! But generally no as i am a player not a collector outright.

As long as a game works, I'm happy. I buy them to play, not to display on shelves.
