Buying a console just for one game
the guy I bought my Xbox One from the other day said he was selling it as he had only bought it to play forza 6.
has there ever been a console-exclusive game that you went to the expense of buying the console just to play it?

It wasnt console exclusive but it was the best version on the Megadrive
I solely bought a Megadrive due to the John Madden series of games. Remember going round my mates and playing that tons at his house 2 player. When i got mine finally i played John Madden 93 Championship Edition TONS.
Used to go over to Slough to the EA HQ to get the next version of Madden as i could get it sooner then when it was released in the shops. Good times. Obviously i was a huge NFL fan, loved that game, bought it all the way up till about 1998 till i got a Playstation

Tempest 2000, Jaguar.
I had a hankering for a Jag in the early days as I was really into my ST, but then Sony started showing pre-release stuff for PS1 during its development. Since there weren't enough games that I really wanted, I passed on the Jag.
I'd never really bothered about Tempest 2k at that point, but then I went to the Game On exhibition when it was up in Edinburgh/Glasgow (I forget where). I played Tempest 2k and was hooked. Gamestation had one in their window shortly after so I snapped it up. It sits in the spare room with Tempest permanently in its slot. It doesn't look like much to a casual observer, but it plays so well.

In 2002, an Original Xbox with Halo, I had not had a console since the N64 and was not playing computer games at all. I went to a friends house who had just bought one, and we played 4 player all against all until 3am, it was awesome, the next day I went out and bought one myself and that is what got me back into gaming.

I bought a Gamecube for Rogue Squadron 2.
Re: Buying a console just for one game
I bought an Xbox 360 just to play Burnout Paradise on it. I remember I was annoyed with the game no more than 25 hours into it, but I still managed to play 130+ hours on that game before I stopped. I haven't played much on the X360 since..not it just sits there and prevents dust from falling on my tv rack.

Maybe not just for Resi 4 - but the main reason I did pick up my GC is that it was bundled with it in CEX.Bluce_Ree wrote:I bought the Gamecube just for Resi 4.

Re: Buying a console just for one game
I could never do this, I couldn't justify spending all the money to just play one game. That said, I remember getting my parents to spend a fortune on a P2 PC back in the day, ostensibly so I could do college work on it, but mainly because I wanted to play Champ Manager 2...

NES for Super Mario Bros
SNES for Super Mario World
N64 for Ocarina of Time
XBox for Halo
PSP for Project Diva
Jap 3DS for Project Mirai
Wii for Muramasa
Ninty are really good (bad?) for this imo, there's always just one or two games that I MUST HAVE. No regrets though, none of these systems are duffers.

Re: Buying a console just for one game
Bought the first xbox for project gotham racing 2 just before Christmas one year. That's when I realised what a good machine it was overall.
Even if I never bought another game for it I would of been happy.

I oddly bought my original Xbox (and softmodded it) just to play Tony Hawk 2X.
The recent release of Rock Band 4 is making me want to pick up an XBone soonish (that and Arkham Knight anyway)

Re: Buying a console just for one game
Have to admit I bought my PS3 off a mate who had just got a PS4 just so I could play Shadow of the Colossus again. I've got a few good games for it, but I really don't play them that much. It's handy enough for Netflix though so it's £50 well spent.
