I'm indifferent having seen the first film, and with this being Amiga focused. I hope they do cover other systems of the era in it. The ST trounced the Amiga in the early days, while latterly the MD and SNES did it.

I don't suppose it matters. I'm 45 this year, so it probably won't be released in my lifetime.

I've always been of the opinion that, with the number of hours of footage they said they'd filmed, there must be tons of unused gold on the cutting room floor. Apparently not... I imagine there could be a few "spin-offs" if this is anything to go by. I wonder if maybe a series of one-hour shows might have been the best way to go?

Yeah it's a shame the ST gets ignored so much. Especially as when you compare lifetime sales there isn't a huge difference.

Rather than all this focus on the Amiga lately with all the various Amiga books and Amiga films I think it would be far more interesting to see something based around the ST AND Amiga. You see plenty of C64 vs. Spectrum stuff and this was just as a compelling battle, especially in the earlier years before the SNES and MD took over (which was another great battle).

Me, too.

The Amiga is the best computer ever made, so I'm pleased that it will focus on that.

It's due to come out in about a year. They have a lot of interviews that mention the Amiga, but they need some more now they are focusing on it. I'll be backing it.

I'll be totally backing the Amiga movie! Still have to see the original movie, I'm waiting to find it at a bargain price...

As a big Amiga fan I am looking forward to it.
I hope they do cover the ST as well, particularly the earlier stuff when the ST was the lead platform.

I agree with The Laird about Amiga vs ST being just as interesting as C64 vs Speccy although going by what I have seen in other threads, not many people seem to agree on this forum.
Does anyone know how well the ST sold in the UK?

The figures that I have seen show that 1.5 million were sold in the UK, with 3.5 million sold worldwide. In comparison the Amiga sold 4 million units worldwide.

Obviously this is just the original models (not later ones like Mega ST, TT, Amiga 1200, CD32 etc.)

I have seen sources that claim 6 million ST computers were sold in total across the whole range, with Amigas around the 8 million mark.

 same here.

Some folk see the dreamcast as a commercial failure but it sold more units than both combined (going with the lower figures) despite being up against other consoles.

The Amiga and st always seemed they were out on their own, having "huge" fanbases.
It's all been a sham!

You have to remember that the ST and Amiga were really only big in western Europe, not the whole world like consoles. The Dreamcast also came out 15 years after the ST and Amiga, so not really a fair comparison.

 True

I will keep watch with interest, but not as keen on this as the first one. Which time taken and price aside is excellent IMO

It is worth remembering that the Spectrum sold around 5 million units and Amstrad 2.5 million.
The C64 is the exception and really the only one that was successful worldwide. The others all did well in certain parts of the world and never really took off elsewhere.

Yeah... the NES by itself probably sold more worldwide than all home computers put together.

Just watched the documentary. Did anyone else find it really tales off in the last 30 minutes?
