They've replied on the Facebook page (to be fair, they always do seem to reply on that page very quickly) with a comprehensive update. Basically, they are finishing up the soundtrack and 30 minute documentary (seeking approval from those who are in it), then it will be ready to go together with t-shirts, other perks etc. Obviously they want to dispatch the perks to each person in one go - fair enough as it eases logistics, keeps postal costs down etc.
No timescales were given, but hopefully something should happen in the next month.

Yes, I mentioned it above.Darran@Retro Gamer wrote:We'll hopefully have a review of this in issue 140.
Does anyone else think the special edition Blu-Ray is a little excessive at £50? I mean you can get the Star Wars saga for that.
The makers seem to be living in 2006

Personally, I think that now it's released they should be selling it for a standard bluray/DVD price. The premium Kickstarter price was to make it happen, and backers would understand a price drop and they would sell a lot more copies.
Hey, I wonder when the signed CD soundtracks are being sent out? I'll have to see what the current position is, I'd forgotten about that.

When they're left with a stockpile of discs, the price will drop. Same as with physical games.

Technically, aren't they left with a stockpile of discs now?

True, but it's a ridiculius price all the same.Antiriad2097 wrote:Nobody's twisting your arm to buy it!

Exactly. And I won't buy it. That doesn't mean the price is remotely acceptable.

Had an email today about the soundtrack and a making of the soundtrack documentary download, not sure I'm all that interested in downloading this.
Splink!

As if by magic, an email arrived with a link to download the "Making of the Music" documentary and letting me know the signed CDs will be going out in a week or so. Nice one.

Considering the pledge to get the BluRay of the movie and a signed CD was £100, I'm definitely downloading anything and everything I'm offered!felgekarp wrote:Had an email today about the soundtrack and a making of the soundtrack documentary download, not sure I'm all that interested in downloading this.

That's a good point, I'll grab it later.PaulEMoz wrote:As if by magic, an email arrived with a link to download the "Making of the Music" documentary and letting me know the signed CDs will be going out in a week or so. Nice one.

How much do you think?merman wrote:Because of the limited audience, it costs more to get small runs of discs duplicated.samhain81 wrote:Wanted to buy the special edition blu ray...looks at website .........£50 quid. LOL
They surely think highly of their content don't they...
I'll show them just how highly I think of that price by waiting for the good ol' fashion way of watching it
Depending on quantity it could cost as little as £1 per disc.
It's a pretty big mark-up.
However, if folk want to pay £50 then fair enough.
Personally, I've only watched the first 20 minutes.
Nothing interesting as yet.
To younger folks, it may be eye opening. For older folks who grew up in this period, it's a series of gaming "celebs" giving their opinions on stuff I already knew.
Hopefully it gets better.
The overly long title sequence is also unnecessary and probably accounts for the high selling price.
[edit]
OK, I've finished watching it.
It was pretty enjoyable overall.
I don't think it has much repeat viewing potential (for me at least).
And to put it into perspective, I've probably watched Chasing Ghosts 10 times and King of Kong (which was £7) at least 5 times.
Also,to address Merman's earlier comments, I'd think the high price would actively encourage folk to watch the movie through other means.
Re: 'Bedrooms to Billions' film project - how you can help!
The debate on the cost...can't argue about that. It is expensive.
I have enjoyed it very much though, and have a lot of the second disc to get through with extended interviews etc.

Re: 'Bedrooms to Billions' film project - how you can help!
The completist in me means I wouldn't be happy with anything except the 2-disc Blu-ray version, but it's about double what I'm prepared to pay. Hopefully they'll consider the "lower profit per unit but more units sold" strategy at some point.
