The cart only market is definitely dead, but the CIB market is doing fine I believe. Put any CIB common game... Low G Man, Bugs Bunny, Captain Skyhawk etc at 99p with £1.49 postage and I'd be surprised if it didn't get at least one bid.
I believe the reason for this is the NES fad occured a couple of years ago, those who had a NES as a kid became adults and wanted to play again, so the market exploded, in general they weren't bothered if they were cart only or not. When the NES fad slowed the largest demographic left buying NES games were collectors (who to be fair will always exist) so CIB and especially mint games are still selling well.
The SNES market is going through the same experience but is obviously 2-4 years behind the NES one IMO.

That ad doesn't say they are all boxed (or any apart from the sealed ones).

Still £500 for an almost complete NES collection is still not bad money if your a retro gamer as well as a retro collector. If they are all unique titles, when you factor the time and money it would take to build the same collection individually it sounds like a reasonable deal.
If I had £500 just sitting in my wallet and didn't have several thousands of pounds worth of work still to do on the house, I would certainly consider it.

I followed up on this after I found the advert myself. I arranged to meet the seller at his home in St. Annes, but he texted me as I was on my way to say he wasn't in. So that was a waste of money as I had already travelled about thirty miles. We arranged to meet another evening but again he texted me the night before saying he was busy. He said he would let me know when he was free but I haven't heard back from him since, and that was nearly two weeks ago.
He told me he was selling up because his wife is pregnant. But if you ask me, he really doesn't want to sell, and I've already lost interest.
