New Argos Sega plug and play...

Post by McBoosh » Sun Aug 26, 2007 6:37 pm

Ok, so Argos are stocking a plug and play for £14.95, and is listed as being 10 games in 1. It is branded Sega, and has the Mega Drive logo in the catelogue - but very scant details. On the Argos website, still scant details, but claims '8-bit games'. But, seeing as the Mega Drive is 16 bit, is this Argos messing up, yet again. Can anyone shead any light on this, especially what the games are, and what system it is meant to be emulating. cheers.

Found it:
Plug and Play TV Sega Game

No idea what it really is - it doesn't look like the old official ones, they were MD pad shaped.
Worth scouring the videogame pages, there's a few good buys - Locoroco for a tenner?

It says its licenced, so it won't be made by Sega. Looks pretty cheap too.

It looks very cheap and nasty, tbh. Any clues to which titles are included?

I'll buy it and review the little beauty in RGCD 04.

That Scooby Doo game looks gay.

Scooby Doo? Scooby Don't more like...

Yeah, I've got lots of DTV games (which I rarely play), but I try to avoid the franchised guff like the various superhero/cartoon ones available. The Capcom one with the exchangable 'game key' thingie is my favourite... Did they ever release any other keys for that one? I saw a Spongebob Squarepants DTV with a similar key the other day - now I wonder what would happen if you inserted that into the capcom one? Probably the same kind of thing that used to happen when I inserted an Outrun disk into my Atari ST when playing R-TYPE and prompted for disk two - garbled sprites and broken music.

As you know from my Burn the Trash review, those are two of my favourite things! ;)

Anyway, I digress. For £15 it's worth the risk I reckon. I'll buy it tomorrow and let you know what it is when I get a chance to play with it.

The games are: Sonic Tripple Trouble / Sonic Drift 2 / Alex Kid in tech world / Astro blaster / kung fu kid / Fantasy zone / penguin land / columns. I cant remember the other 2, but its a rather rum collection. Also, despite the pictures on the website and catalogue, it only comes with a single controller. Not that i think any of the games are 2 player anyway. Really not worth the £15...
