I could care less.

It really winds me up when I see Americans say this and even more when they can't see that it's wrong.

There is no point, they are adamant they are right. Even when you point out that it literally makes no sense.

Same as when I hear Them say this games is " so addictibg " instead of " addictive ". I don't know why but that always bugs me.

Much as it sounds odd to us, addicting is at least correct English and means what is intended (not that I'd ever use it):

And that's why I think it's a good time
To learn some grammar
Now, did I stammer?
Work on that grammar
You should know when
It's less or it's fewer
Like people who were
Never raised in a sewer.

I have enacted a categorical revamp of the Retro Gamer forums.

Next Steps:
• Empanel 5-10 moderators. Any interest? Hit me up in a private message.
• TYA Initiative (Thirty Years Ago / Twenty Years Ago)

Are there 5 - 10 regular forum users currently?

TYA Initiative?! So Thirty Years Ago Initiative... Maybe I'm being dumb here but what on Earth does that mean?

I was being somewhat intentionally coy.

It's a thought I had in the shower, actually. You see, there is no "new" retro gamer news per se, to prompt conversation over the course of time. There may be periodic deep dives into how a game was made, what impact it had, or perhaps new records set in speedruns for those old games. But there aren't really any headlines or announcement of new releases, since the subject matter is by its very nature past tense.

So, I'm thinking, why not treat today like thirty years ago?

30 years ago in 1988, the following games were released:

• Where in Europe Is Carmen Sandiego
• Narc
• Ironsword: Wizards and Warriors II
• Police Quest II: The Vengeance
• Ninja Gaiden
• Neuromancer
• Super Mario Bros. 2

...and quite a few others.

So why not take a week to talk about each of those individual games that were released 30 years ago with each other? A new thread created each week to talk about one particular game from 30 years back. We can discuss - did you play it? What was your favorite part of the game? Your least pleasant experience in it? Any strategies you used to beat it? Where can others who hadn't wallowed in the glory of that game find it to play it, and methods of playing it now. Along with, of course, images and the random tip and trick.

IMBD and other resources provide a pretty decent database of game release dates. This could be quite fun - and open things up for exploring games I know I missed, and that others here probably did as well.

Heck, I could do a 2 hour video on Ironsword alone.

Are PMs broken?

I've sent a few today but people don't seen to be getting them and they don't show in either my outbox or sent folder.

Looks good! Let's see what people think, could still be room to improve.

There could be some tidy up of stickied threads...

Retro Games
1) Home Brew Section, Collectors Wanted and Club RG (sub forum) - move to RG mag and site forum. These are probably worth putting in an announcements section at the top as they are for the editorial team to solicit content for the mag.
2) Gamings greatest icons - is now an old write clear, move to RG and site feedback
3) Online usernames - this is outdated now, unpin.
4) New moderators - old thread now, unpin
5) Trolling - unpin this thread, is outdated now and should be recovered by AUP which now has more prominence.

High Scores and Speedruns
1) There's a sub forum for Game Room - since Microsoft closed this, the threads could probably merge with the main Retro Game forum.
2) Retro Gaming League can probably be unpinned

Mag and Site Feedback
Unpin...
Retro Gamer Features Index spreadsheet - links are dead
Important forum information - upgrade was done (and at least one further upgrade since, thank you)

Off Topic
Unpin...
1) F1 fantasy league 2017 - outdated now
2) New Mods - not new anymore

Updated list on 8th Dec

Yeah thanks, a few people have. Seems I can get them and reply but wasn't working when I sent them.

Ooh. Haven't been on for a while. Avatars on the left. The world is saved! ;). Having joined the forum 11 years ago and having over 13000 posts of varying quality I am one of the tribal elders here!

When are the Avatars moving to the left? The right just feels wrong!

I would like them on the left but is hardly top of the "to do" list
