console battle Q12 SEGA DREAMCAST VS PLAYSTATION 2
First 8 qualifying rounds are over and the winners going through to the next knockout round are
Atari 2600 which beat the Magnavox
Colecovision which beat the Intellivision
Master system which beat the NES
Vectrex which beat the Atari 5200
Atari 7800 which beat the Action max
C64GS which beat the GX4000
Neo Geo which beat the PC engine
Super Nintendo which beat the megadrive
So now for the next 8 Qualifying rounds to see who joins them, next up is
SEGA DREAMCAST VS PS2
Interesting one this, the PS2 is a juggernaut and has hundreds of amazing games, but I just don't have the love for it like I do the Dreamcast

The Neo Geo beat the PC Engine?
Have we got multi-millionaires in here or something?
Anyway, whilst the PS 2 was very popular - I'm going to vote for DC. It was so unique : in-built modem for online gaming, great games library, VGA output and using a Microsoft operating system. It was a fitting end to Sega's hardware legacy.

Wrong of course, but that's becoming more and more common for you .DPrinny wrote:The Dreamcast now has few exclusives of note

I voted for PS2 as dprinny has somewhat of a point even if you disagree. If it was the day before Sega pulled the plug on the Dreamcast (in 2001), this would be a far tougher call, but many DC exclusives did end up as multiplatformers, and once the PS2 had a comfortable lead in the market, and developers got to grips with the hardware and exploiting use of DVD storage, the PS2 did get a very deep library of sophisticated and unique games.RodimusPrime wrote:Wrong of course, but that's becoming more and more common for you .DPrinny wrote:The Dreamcast now has few exclusives of note

Up to that point though in 2001, the DC was looking pretty good, and VGA compatibility was another positive that I cherish to this day. Its certainly a top machine though with some good old fashioned arcade experiences. But competing against the PS2 library alone (not counting the full BC of PS1 games it offered out of the box, or DVD playback) by the end of the 2000s, the sheer choice and depth for PS2 edges it for me.

I voted Dreamcast because when it came out I enjoyed it far more than when the PS2 came out, and I have better memories of it.
The potential library is irrelevant to me as I have not played a lot of them, and did not have as much enjoyment on the ones I did play as the dreamcast.

Sega Rally 2 was a great follow up to the original. I am voting PS2 though, better controller, quieter, more games and the dvd player was a massive bonus at the timeDPrinny wrote:Shenmue 1 and Project Justice a side im finding it hard to come up with anything else thats both good and an exclusiveRodimusPrime wrote:Wrong of course, but that's becoming more and more common for you .DPrinny wrote:The Dreamcast now has few exclusives of note

In this case, you may be statistically correct looking at the current poll results (again, I did also select PS2!)HalcyonDaze00 wrote:ps2, not even close

Id love to say DC, but I just can't. Horrible game cases, unreliable machine, horrible controllers and very few exclusives - plus no decent footie games. PS2 is superior in just about every aspect.

Still play my DC more - though PS2 consoles were more reliable in all.
