console battle Q10 SEGA SATURN VS PLAYSTATION 1
First 8 qualifying rounds are over and the winners going through to the next knockout round are
Atari 2600 which beat the Magnavox
Colecovision which beat the Intellivision
Master system which beat the NES
Vectrex which beat the Atari 5200
Atari 7800 which beat the Action max
C64GS which beat the GX4000
Neo Geo which beat the PC engine
Super Nintendo which beat the megadrive
So now for the next 8 Qualifying rounds to see who joins them, next up is
SEGA SATURN VS PLAYSTATION 1
I am actively collecting for the Saturn and having access to the Japanese library opens a whole new world of great games, but I just can't ignore how amazing it was playing Metal gear, Tekken 3, Gran turismo, and Resident evil 2 for the first time was. so Playstation for me.

Definitely the Sega Saturn for me, it has far more games that I like to play.

PS1. Better 3d, easier to make games for, loads of great titles, the dual shock controller, made gaming cool

Re: console battle Q10 SEGA SATURN VS PLAYSTATION 1
I am starting to warm to the PS1 more, mainly because it has a lot of titles I know sod all about, probably because they are pants
But Saturn all the way

Playstation 1. Oh dear, I basically like the same stuff as Halcyondaze
I don't mind the Saturn, but I got the console only recently where as I grew up on PS1 - and again as seems to be the case, on account of its own commercial success and lifespan, it got most of the best developers in the end and had the quantity of top games right up until and well into the next generation, long after Sega had ditched the poor Saturn in favour of the Dreamcast.

I much prefer 2d over 3d gaming, so it should be Saturn. However I never owned one, but the PS 1 got me bavmck into gaming with some really neat tired and Ridge Racer was all kinds of brilliant.

The trouble is, that I never really got to play that much on the Sega Saturn. It seems like a decent machine from its technical specifications. So, it's got to be the "machine that took gaming to the masses" - as a lot of people say. The PS1! Sony's gold mine!
I do remember first playing Ridge Racer on it, and be quite impressed at the conversion.

Yea, I think it probably hurt Sega a lot that the PS1 had fantastic ports of Tekken and Ridge Racer from the outset, while the Saturn rushed out the chugging Daytona USA and Virtua Fighter.Katzkatz wrote:The trouble is, that I never really got to play that much on the Sega Saturn. As much as I wish I could say Saturn , Ive had more play out of my PS1 and it has a perfectly solid selection of games.
I've played plenty on my Saturn too but without Nights , Guardian Heroes and Burning Rangers , I wouldn't have kept mine.
Its a console that leaves a legacy of strong gaming , just missed out on some slightly better titles and lets face it , the PS1 hit the modern gamers harder with its flashy games speaking for themselves.
Now just HD me some Saturn games and I'll be more than happy.

Loved the PS1.
Got me back into console gaming at uni.
Someone brought one round. I decided I needed one..... So I told the bank I had no money to pay my rent and the next day I got an increased overdraft and bought one. Good times
