Console battle Q6 ATARI 7800 VS ACTION MAX

Post by RodimusPrime » Fri Apr 14, 2017 8:19 am

Bored and stuck at work a lot for the next few weeks so fancied doing something long term on here for a bit of fun.

picked out 32 consoles and pitting them against each other in a knockout round. First up is 16 Qualifying rounds, will run this till 21/04/2017 and then the winners will be on to the next stage.

ATARI 7800 VS ACTION MAX

Easy win for the Atari IMO.

I think, Atari 2600 carts could be played on the 7800... so it wins for that.
Never played on a Action Max!

Really strange one this!

7800 wins with ease.

Its just a rough competition, nothing exact. just intitially doing consoles that were roughly the same period. As it gets down to it in later rounds we are going to end up with quite modern consoles against older ones anyway.

The Action max got re-released in the DVD age so there for it would be up against the Dreamcast/PS2 as well

That's a bit unfair though, it would wipe the floor with either of them.

I couldn't remember anything about the Action Max, but a a VHS vibe... Googled it now, thanks for the memories. Haven't heard about that one for many many years.

I'd never even heard of it until the AVGN did an episode

I quite fancied an Action Max at the time. I liked the Firefox laserdisc arcade cab and one of the games was a bit like it. I realised being on VHS it would be totally linear and a bit rubbish, but I still hankered for it. Don't think I've ever tried one. Have we had it at Play Expo?

No, they had it at that one in Huddersfield (?) years ago, I was the bugger that bought it

I bought a few brand new in a bulk lot ages ago. ( 8 or 10 I think ) for next to nothing.

Sold them all as they were not up to much, never even bothered to keep one for myself. This and the CDI are the only 2 consoles I never bothered to keep.

For some reason they nearly all went to buyers in Canada.
