It has to be the original release of Blade Runner, surely?

There is a few films that have totally slipped my mind, but in Germany they were massively cut to extreme violence.

They always went crazy on that stuff for a period in time. Films so heavily cut to get the lower rating it made no sense when so much was cut out.

Repo Man, which is the best film ever, has an excellent TV edit.

I remember watching Terminator Salvation on a flight where all the violence had been cut out, even machines getting blown up. But they also had things like Predators completely uncensored. Bizarre.

Or an example of the US ruining things
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind>Warriors of the wind, get rid of all messages in the film
Cardcaptor Sakura - To much to list http://cardcaptorsakura.wikia.com/wiki/Cardcaptors

We had the ITV Robocop on VHS for years, watched it loads. Me and my mate still call each other 'crumbag' and 'mother crusher' when we're insulting each other.

Leon got massive cuts in the US, mainly around Natalie Portman's character as she's meant to be 12. So no propositioning Jean Reno, no Russian Roulette, and she doesn't help to kill anyone.

Terminator 1 the video release had Arnie cutting his eye out removed and the FU Ahole when the guy asks him " do you have a dead cat in your room"

The itv version had entire scenes removed such as where Arnie kills everybody in the police station..

Evil Dead was quite heavily edited with the woman being raped by a tree
"Crush the Old Order and CREATE A NEW SOCIETY!"

The UK release of Eraser is a lot shorter than the American release, loads cut out of that.
And the most cut cartoon, Battle Of The Planets

Yeah, the dialogue substitutions to get it past the censor are hilarious. "Flip you, melonfarmer!"

In terms of utter travesties though, I'd have to go with the "Love conquers all" version of Terry Gilliam's Brazil. The studio execs saw the early cuts, had a meltdown, and got someone else in to edit it. The end result is that it's about an hour shorter and they totally changed the ending; in doing so, they arguably lost the meaning of the entire film too.

The VHS release of True Lies had the toilet fight scene edited. The video even had a caption before the film saying : "This film has been edited for censorship purposes" and on the cover of the tape. You can sort of tell that something feels wrong with that scene - as the beginning seems quite tense and when the actual fight comes it sort of feels out of place - like you've missed a lot of stuff. It was strange that it got cut down from the version that was shown in UK cinemas - if it had its certificate reduced, I could have understood it. The first batch of DVDs were cut - but from 2010, they all uncut.

I do remember a lot of people complaining about what Channel 4 did Trading Places during the early 1990s. There was a showing of it at quite at night - and it got chopped to bits. Lots of F words went missing. I think even the local radio station commented on that the next day.

The version of The Thief And The Cobbler that eventually got released was an affront to Richard Williams' vision.
All subtlety, all intricacies edited out or overdubbed to turn it into a cash-in on the success of Aladdin.

I have a dvd box set "Box of the Banned - Video Nasties".
The 2 films I've watched have both been cut!
Zombie Flesh Eaters has the splinter through the eye scene removed.
And the initial rape scene from I spit on your Grave has been cut to bits, reusing the same video and audio clips over and over again to try and convey what's happening as opposed to showing it.
