It must make a pleasant change to find someone who had some decent taste in games and accessories, instead of being expected to stump up for a PS2 with the world's worst 3rd-party controller, a dozen different FIFA games, and a copy of Hugo.

At least with that GameBoy player you'll eventually be able to play a decent Probotector game on it...

Nice.

I'll never top the 500 8 and 16 bit games I was given for free by the owner of playtime in Shildon, Co. Durham. Gave about half away to charity auctions.

Probably a fair price to be honest. Boxed Slim's in good working order attract reasonable attention on ebay as I found when I expected them to be dirt cheap and it turned out to be the total opposite (ended up getting a £15 one from CC albeit covered in scratches but it works soundly). If £40 included all the games as well then it's probably fair, even if the games were crap.
Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

The guy I bought it from sells mainly stolen / counterfeit cigarettes and stolen perfumes so don't know how he ended up with it.

Plus, I just got £170 on ebay for it

I once got a £120 usb turntable for £15. Bought it from a small car boot that no dealers or anyone like that would go to.
