So I finally hit the car boot jackpot......

Post by David » Sun Jun 05, 2016 6:00 am

Get out the car and the very first table has a ps1 box sitting there. So I ask how much

"Ehh....I don't know much about these nintendo stations, the dealer round the corner is away to check ebay to tell me how much it is worth and says he will give me a good price for it"

Alarm bells ringing. Dealers don't check ebay for smelly old ps1 consoles so I open the box and it's actually a snes console on its own in the box.

I ask if it has cables / games and he says yeah in that shoebox there.

Get a glimpse and it's got a few snes games in it but st this point my 4 year old is running about trying to find toys and the place is mobbed so I am worried about losing her so I say "give you a tenner for it?"

DEAL!

So far on quick inspection I have zelda alttp, super probotector, aladdin, and a load more and also a super game boy player and 2 pads.

Pics to follow when I get home and stop frothing at the mouth

interesting, when the sellers overprice things they are called scum and conmen, but when the buyers get a bargain by fleecing an unsuspecting seller they are patted on the back, marvellous double standards

As posted in the thread about how much you pay for retro I am generally happy to pay dealer prices for stuff. They've done the work to find the stuff and it saves me any hassle

To be fair I've never called anone scum or a conman.....

Till I get one over on that conman scum dealer today

A great buy David, so where there actually no PS1 items in the box?

Wish I'd stumble on Snes find round my way, I did see a boxed PS2 slim last weekend, with about 20 games, the lady wanted £40 which I thought was probably a bit steep and none of the games really interested me that much. In the end I bought a box of DJ 12" vinyls..........and I don't have a record player.
WANTED: Mario Party 3 on N64 (just the Box only) ANY SNES GAMES, OR EMPTY SNES BOXES, INSTRUCTION MANUALS or WHITE INNER TRAYS.

Nice. My best buy was about three years ago. I was about to leave the market, assuming it had already been picked clean, when I saw a plastic tub with some cables sticking out stored underneath a table. I asked the seller if I could have a look and found a Dreamcast with all the cables and a controller. They wanted three quid. Needless to say, reader, I bought that Dreamcast.

My current SNES came from a car boot. Unboxed, but oddly not yellowed, so looks like new. Young woman selling it said she'd had it since a kid, came with Mario Paint and the mouse and a couple of other carts. I gave her £20 for it a few years ago, which was cheap, but not totally ripping her off.
