I can definitely vouch for flatapex and his general helpfulness, he's helped me before finding/recommending accommodation + relevant transport :)

Regarding this years event, I'm very glad that it is back to being a two day show. The third day last year had very little atmosphere as it was clear various people just wanted to get home as they were knackered from the previous two days.

thanks dude :D I enjoy doing it, blackpool isnt the easiest place to find decent accomodation at times and anything i can do to help people get somewhere nice to stay is all good with me.

Last year it did seem that everyone was tiring by the end of the 2nd day and those that were doing all 3 seemed to be exhausted at the prospect of doing another day, usually by the sunday evening at both blackpool and manchester everyone is exhausted and just wants home and bed in that order. Can't say I blame them to be honest.

I might do a 'flatapex's guide to getting about in blackpool' with info about the trams, where to park (although in blackpool i generally wouldn't as the traffic is a nightmare, parking is horrendous and expensive), where things like the banks are (for when we have all spent a bit much), best and worst chippies (its blackpool, you have to have fish and chips) and general hints and tips, depends if anyone wants it.

Now we just need to organise a forum meet

Well I live in Bracknell so it would be about £100, maybe more to get a train. The thing is is that I can drive I have just not had that much experience with the likes of motorways and such.

its at least a 5 hour drive when factoring stops and thats before traffic and there will be traffic going into blackpool on a bank holiday. so its more like 6 hours plus  oh and parking in blackpool is expensive too. The driving route I looked at involved 100+ miles on the m1, on a bank holiday, so.....no, I wouldn't recommend that one

cheapest train tickets i found were £25 each, can't imagine petrol costing much less than that, the train journey is 6 hours too and means going to london to come back out and a change in manchester, which I understand is the norm.

How long would you be looking at staying over for? A lot of places are the b and b stereotype, I'm not a snob but am aware that the price these places charge, there is much better available. Where I am going to be is £35-ish a night and is very nice for the money, stag parties are banned etc. There are slightly cheaper places but I wouldn't go there

£25 ticket? That's impressively cheap! Where was that? I am making another long journey this month and a cheapo ticket would be great for that!

As for Blackpool I think it's too last minute to get everything sorted so I will have to sit this one out I think. Thanks very much for the kind offer though. I would likely only be able to stay the one night so would likely get there late, only see half a day and then come home the next day, ideally I would have to get more time off than that but I am getting married this year so most of my holiday allocation would go on the honeymoon.

right then you 'orrible lot, who wants to participate in a forum meet in blackpool (at the event is the preference, blackpool is a big place and we risk looking like a nerdy stag party otherwise)

also there is a handy guide to blackpool for playblackpool visitors on my site flatapex.wordpress.com

Yeah I'd be up for that at the event, with it being a smaller venue than the likes of Event City it shouldn't be too hard to meet.

right then, thats easily sorted, the blackpool meet up rabble is started, more to be added as required.

We need to arrange where and when to meet, I would suggest a centralised point that is easy to identify but......I don't know whats going to be there.

Archaickoala- are you still on the same number dude? I think I managed to rescue all my contacts before my phone imploded.

Sscott- let me know how you want to arrange finding you, got a feeling its just the three of us at the moment though lol
