REVIVAL Solstice 2016 - 30-31 July, Walsall

*** REVIVAL RETURNS FOR THE SUMMER! ***

Image

The best dedicated retro gaming event returns, with 'REVIVAL Solstice 2016' on the weekend of 30-31 July at Banks's Stadium, Walsall!

After the successful comeback event 'Winter Warmer 2015', REVIVAL once again returns to large scale for the Summer with the aptly titled 'REVIVAL Solstice 2016'. This new event marks the start of a new show plan for future REVIVAL events organised by the RRE team, and brings back all the attractions of our previous Summer exhibitions. This year's event features already include:

- Over 100 playable retro consoles and computers
- Over 50 classic video arcade machines and pinball machines
- On-stage competitions and prizes
- A larger selection of traders offering various retro collectables
- The return of the guest talks panels and new gamer's theatre
- Reasonably priced, fully licensed bar and gamer's snack bar serving hot and cold food
- New large Summer venue for up to 1000 visitors per day, near M6 J9 and J10
- Choice of nearby hotels with direct rail and bus links to the venue

The event page is now up from our Facebook page and e-tickets are now on sale directly from our ticket merchant here: https://www.tickettailor.com/checkout/v ... 6/chk/069b. Tickets are priced at £12 per day/£20 for a weekend for adults, and concessional tickets at £6 per day/£10 for a weekend for children (12 or under), disabled users and their assistants.

Thanks to the popularity and support shown by the attendees and contributors of our warm-up event, the team are once again in a position to bring back all the popular features of our previous full scale events as we always wanted to. This means that more contributors will be involved to bring you more playable systems, more games, more arcades, more pinball, more unique show experiences, new guests, more competitions, more traders, more stuff to buy and more prizes! This new event is intended to be complemented by a new size Winter event called 'Equinox', so be sure you join us this Summer and enjoy that excellent REVIVAL atmosphere to make sure it can happen!

In the meantime, if you'd like to make any pledges, get involved, or are interesting in sponsoring or having a trade spot at the event, please put it in replies on this post, message us through facebook, or e-mail me directly at turnarcades@hotmail.co.uk or enquiries@revivalretroevents.com.

More event information will soon be posted on the website http://www.revivalretroevents.co.uk and key information will also be posted on our facebook and twitter feeds! Let us know if you have any comments too, and if you'll be coming! Please like and share this post on your page and in any groups you can!

There may well be fella! Various competitions will be being held around the event and the usual on-stage comps courtesy of the Retro Lords, plus Tom.C will be doing the Dreamcast Junkyard area with competitions, but if you are interested in exhibiting and hosting an area, drop me a message or better yet, shoot me a direct message on Facebook or email me!

For the pure arcade fanatics, some of the already confirmed machines are:

Phoenix
Hang-On
Centipede
Atari Video Pinball
Qix
OutRun
Ridge Racer
Hyper Street Fighter 2
Killer Instinct
The Simpsons 4P
Terra Cresta
Gyruss
Donkey Kong
X-Men 4P
Golden Axe
Ms. Pac-Man
The candy collection
Sheriff
Space Launcher
Gorf
Area 51
Pleiads

Plus a selection of unique custom Turnarcades machines and more classics to be announced. There will be an excellent choice of pins too from Addams Family to Family Guy!

Ninty arcade is going to be furnishing us with some nice Nintendo-related arcade surprises I believe, there's been a few more acquired machines this end too, and good news for arcade bods is Rastermania from Belgium are confirmed to be attending, so they will be able to cater for your arcade parts and PCB needs ;). As usual, it's worth dropping Pete a message if you want him to hunt down any hard to find in the UK PCB's or hardware so he can see what he turns up on his trips round Europe prior to July!

Right now we are in good stead with Rog Cantor on the vids-finding hunt, and Steve Pagett is going to be providing a healthy selection of pinballs for all you pinheads! It's worth mentioning too that individual cab pledges will be looked on favourably if you want to get involved, and I'm toying with the idea of evening entertainment and late-night session for the arcade heads involved with the show!

Here is a video clip of one of the previous shows in 2014, to give an idea of what to expect. Not a great video, but you get the idea...

Any chance you could provide a barstool or something in front of the stand-up racing cabinets, since they're always a bit silly to try and operate when standing? Two-foot braking/accelerating is a particularly tricky one to pull off without falling over...

Really Joe? It's not something that's been asked for before. Not saying it's not a problem for some; some upright drivers have inconveniently placed pedals for sure! I think Crazy Taxi is the only cab type that gets it right!

We already have folks ask for tall stools for extended cabaret play and booster platforms for kids on some cabs, so we will see what we can do!

Just 6 weeks to go guys, be sure to grab your tickets now and enjoy a top weekend!
