He SHOULD be Sir John, and it's a disgrace that he wasn't knighted, when other similar (and not as successful) people were, but sadly he wasn't. The only person to win on two and four wheels. World Champion eight times.

Whoops! For some reason, I thought that he had been knighted. Oh well. I suppose he is "Sir John" in both your and mine's eyes. May he rest in peace.

RIP Chuck. Hopefully, the aliens will discover your music - as his was the only rock and roll song included on Voyager's Golden Record.

RIP Ikutaro Kakehashi.

As the founder of the Roland Corporation and its chairman and president for four decades, he was perhaps the greatest innovator of musical technology of our generation. We've largely got him to thank for the drum machines that were the sound of the 80s, the digital synthesizers that defined the 90s, and PC sound cards that didn't sound like someone farting in a tin box. Additionally, he was one of the driving forces behind both the original MIDI and later General MIDI standards, that allowed your instruments to work together at least some of the time.

That's quite a musical and electronic legacy to leave us. May Ikutaro rest in peace.
