RIP Lord Lucan

Shocked and saddened at the news.

But now his son has become Lord Lucan so not all bad.

I saw him briefly last week and he seemed fine so this is sad news indeed. I wondered why his burger van was closed today though.

RIP Lukie, you will be missed. Not that that's much of a change from the last four decades tbh.
If it's slower than me, dumber than me and it tastes good ... tough titty.

He was brilliant in Spitting Image.

And also as a stand in for Freddy Mercury.

Now his son becomes. George Bingham, 8th Earl of Lucan. So he now has the right to take this late fathers seat in the House of Lords. As such he can now claim £300 for each sitting day that he attends the House

No he doesn't.

When the Lords was reformed in 1999, hereditary peers lost the automatic right to a seat and need to be elected by the sitting peers.

I suppose he can still call himself Lord/Earl/whatever but it's not a position that holds any power.

Is this the same Lord Lucan who killed a woman back in 1974?

The very same, declared dead in 1981, but they've only just issued a formal death certificate.

I didn't really know much more than he was a posh bloke who did a bunk, but googling him today revealed a reasonably entertaining story.

I believe there were also rumours that Graham Hill may have helped him escape the country as he owned a plane and had a pilots licence.

I suspect he's been spending the past 4 decades smoking the finest herbs in south asia. He was called Lord "Lucky" Lucan after all.
