UPDATE - I've just seen the news from two of the show's producers that the final two seasons will be only thirteen episodes(split across two years and seasons).

yeah, it has been talked of for a while.

This season has been brilliant but it's fairly obvious they are rushing towards the end as whole plotlines skipped and characters ignored

So is Jon Snow half Stark/half Targaryen?

Good series overall. The budget must be huge!!

I know a lot of people dismiss the show as being flavour of the month and all about sex etc, but this is a fairly epic reason to watch as far as I'm concerned...

Final episode was great. Overall it was a very enjoyable season, some episodes were a bit slow by comparison but I think the epic episodes spoil us.

I liked the series, I like the 'slow' episodes as well (esp the one with the Hound and Ian McShane). The last episode was nowhere near the best for me though, and whilst it had lots of action , it didn't seem as satisfying as, for example, last weeks' with the thrilling battle scene.

I thought the last episode was one of the best ever, but I do like the slow episodes too, the plotting and political intrigue can be just as entertaining as the epic battles.

Yeah I like those episodes too, the big twists and battles mean more when they don't happen every episode. I think when you watch it week to week, some people want their patience rewarded with something incredible, I suspect people would have enjoyed some of the episodes more if they binged the whole thing back to back.

Game of Thrones gas a budget like any show and can only afford a big 'kick off' twice a year. The show started a bit too slow with the many faces crap but ended well!

So it's been confirmed that will definitely end at season eight.

As much as I love the show and feel like I can't get enough, it's for the best it has a definitive end date so they can plot everything accordingly.

I have that dilemma as well. Part of me wants them to keep going, but also a definitive end would be much preferable to it keep plodding on with no plan for the end game (e.g The Walking Dead)

I'm sure they will have side stories coming out the wazoo by the time the finale comes about.

Watched the 1st episode and that was enough. Not for me. :?
Well, 2 years on. And I decided to give GoT another go.
Over the last 4 weeks I've watched all 6 series.
I guess I was wrong, it is one of the best tv series ever. :?
