Project sidologie

Post by smila » Wed Apr 15, 2015 10:24 am

If you are a fan of jarre sid galway hubbard check out this kickstarter by marcel donne and chris abbott with album art by myself.

It's already funded (119% in its first 24 hours) and is now heading for stretch goals.

I hope this becomes commercially available as I purchased all BIT albums and some of Marcel Donnes stuff too. :D

I don't think it's going to be commercial after the kickstarter so best get in while you can.

After the first few days, funding slowed depressingly -- looking like it'll be a 4 disc set, rather than the full stretch of 7 (with the DVD). I'm surprised after the big money Matt Gray's Reformation KS made, considering several composers' work is featured in Sidologie.

From the Kickstarters I've watched in the past, this isn't unusual. There's an initial rush of excitement where the keen and impulsive back immediately. It slows down round the middle, then in the last few days there's usually a second rush as the latecomers back it, either because it's had another bump of PR (like this thread) that reminds people time is running out, or they now have the money because a payday has passed, or plain old because that catches some new eyes. I wouldn't be worrying just yet.

I'm sure there'll be a late surge, but for the full set the total has to more than double its current £18.5k in 15 days.
Reformation broke £75k at the end.

'Worry' is pretty much my default mode tho!

Only 8 days to go to be part of something awesome.
Check it out and get it backed.
Nearly at £23,000 ( 239% )

This is why I love kickstarter - sid remix albums were really struggling to get enough buyers to be financially viable. But along comes kickstarter dangling impressive stretch goals and it's viable again :)

Things have certainly slowed, but should pick up again when the 48 hr reminders go out. I'm sure a few shout outs from other sid related Kickstarters will help as well.

Big kudos to all involved - the project has been run really well, with plenty of updates and rewards

I've interviewed Chris Abbott to get as much information as possible about the project and why you should back it. Check it out here: Project Sidologie - music to your ears!
