Fave TV show from this list only :

Post by DoraemonTheCat » Thu Mar 19, 2015 11:21 am

Spent last night trawling through IMDB and then on to eBay to purchase the box sets of all my fave 80's TV shows

It was a fairly expensive night

But, which did you enjoy most??

How would you rate in order, the following :

Airwolf
Street Hawk
Hunter
The Fall Guy
The A Team
Knight Rider
Magnum P.I
T.J Hooker

Yes, there are many other great TV shows that are not listed above......but, that's all I purchased last night

Looking forward to getting reaquainted with Heather Locklear :D

I love retro games, love retro films but never been a huge fan of retro telly.

Those boxed sets sound good but it would take you ages to watch all of them and once you've watched them once would you really watch them again ?

All quality 80's shows but grown up now they dont have the same appeal, eg A Team no one dies, just cars rolling over. Airwolf had a cracking tune. Hunter was a great series, my dad enjoyed that. Think i had the dinky cars for most of the ones on that list, remember playing with the Fall Guy truck.

Nobody dying in The A Team was actually a running joke (Source : IMDB Trivia)

Hunter was amazing, I loved that show

I always thought Knight Rider was absoultely ridiculous when they added "Super Pursuit Mode" in the later Seasons

And I wasn't surprised that the remake was panned and cancelled after one series - I mean, how can you remake that show, WITHOUT the iconic Black Trans AM?? Instead of using a Ford Mustang, they should have just made a futuristic looking car instead

I haven't seen or heard of a few of them, the only ones I'd consider watching would be A-Team, Knightrider and Magnum PI. A-Team would be the best. I remember really enjoying Knightrider as a child, but I'm not sure I would as much now. I would prioritise A-Team, then maybe flip a coin over Magnum and Knightrider.

Magnum P.I
Knight Rider
Hunter

Never even heard of Hunter?!
But out of the ones listed: and rated out of 10

Airwolf - my favourite 80's tv show. 10/10
Street Hawk - never really got into this but did like it. 5/10
The Fall Guy - brilliant series 9/10
The A Team - AWESOME! 10/10
Knight Rider - my favourite 80's tv show 2! 10/10
Magnum P.I - Loved it and that tash is No.1 tash ever. 9/10
T.J Hooker - It was good, but he just wasn't Kirk. 7/10

You need to get back on ebay and look for Automan and Manimal

The only one I every really liked was The Fall Guy. Lee Majors was an idol of mine, he had it all.

As a kid he was The Six Million Dollar Man. As I grew up, he became The Fall Guy.

Great shows for their time, with sci fi, action, a bit of intrigue, and usually hot women.

He was a man's man, well built, not a bad looker, but tough with it. And he married Farrah Fawcett.

Oh how I wanted to be Lee Majors.

Never really liked the other shows. I'd watch bits, very rarely a whole episode, but usually only for their gimmick, to see the car/motorcycle/helicopter/tank built in a shed. The stories were rubbish.

I'm afraid to revisit The Fall Guy for fear it will shatter my rose tinted glasses. I was thinking about it last week when the game was discussed on Retro Asylum.

I'm a massive fan of the A-Team and Knight Rider, Airwolf was ok but all three of them suffered from the terrible retooled final season- A-Team when they brought in Frankie Santana (the Yoko Ono of the A-Team) and they ended up working for Robert Vaughan, Knight Rider when they brought in RC3 as Michael Knight's ethnic sidekick, and Airwolf when they cancelled the series and Atlantic bought it but couldn't afford any of the cast and chose to replace Jan Michael Vincent with Barry Van Dyke. Yes, that Barry Van Dyke. Got box sets of the lot of them, but A-Team has to be the fave, I could watch it over and over. Can't wait to introduce my lad to these when he's older.

Streethawk and T.J. Hooker were terrible even back then. The rest were class, though. Back in the day as a teen, I watched them all avidly and wouldn't have been able to separate a favourite, although The Fall Guy might just have edged it. Now, without the rose tinted specs, they're universally terrible and i wouldn't bother watching any of them. If pushed to make a choice i'd probably go with Magnum PI.....if i really had to.

Yep.

The Fall Guy is the best of a bad bunch.
For real 80s telly torture I'd say Bring Em Back Alive really hits the spot. Anybody interested in 80s telly who wants to watch something that doesn't get the credit it deserves should track down Salvage 1 and especially its pilot film which was just called Salvage ( although it was 1979 I think).
True retro telly masochists need BJ and The Bear.
If it's slower than me, dumber than me and it tastes good ... tough titty.

From that list Knight Rider was the one I watched religiously but I do have a soft spot for Street Hawk and Hunter.

Sadly have to agree , Ive tried hard to watch a lot of what I watched as a kid , mostly avoiding cartoons. OK so A Team has the vaguely comedic quality but they have all aged terribly. Same for UK comedy shows of the same era , they are mostly just so far out of date that they are cringe inducing at best. I wouldnt try to convince my son that any of those series listed are worth watching.

Has to be A Team in first place, still one of the greatest shows ever made.

Knight Rider takes second with Street Hawk in third.
