Crunchy Ham

Post by koopa42 » Wed Nov 12, 2014 12:53 pm

Mrs Koops doesn't mind cheap crap ham, probably made from rolled Pigeon. I on the other hand detest cheap crap ham and it's usual 'crunchyness'. Mrs Koops swears that it's all in my mind but I maintain you do get 'crunchy' ham especially if it's cheap, I don't mean crunchy like say a cracker but I mean a sort of sinewy crunch on occasion .... probably from the rolled pig foot or something. Does anyone else hate crunchy ham? Serious question because I'm going to so this to Mrs Koop and prove it exists.

Ham should only come from the deli, not a packet.

I have no memory of ham,so can't help with this one.

I remember not liking bacon and being disappointed by that as it smells so good.

Lets not even get this thread derailed onto the most overrated food item in the history of food .... bacon.

Try deep frying a slice of nice yorkshire ham. Better than bacon.

Bacon is vile and over rated.

Cheap ham is worse than anything, almost as bad as pork and egg (packs of pork with egg in it ewww)

Every year at christmas my mum insists i love tinned ham- i hate it

Yup, cheap ham is terrible (surprisingly!)

You can normally tell by the horrible grey colour.

I can eat postage stamp ham or the finest blue steak but i will say dry cured streaky bacon is enough to induce orgasm.

One question.
Why the bloody hell did the pig evolve to the point where (almost) every part of it can be eaten?

I don't know about sliced ham but I have certainly experienced crunchy tinned ham. Mrs Von bought a tin of el cheapo reconstituted minced pig from Poundland or some such budget establishment. I swear they had taken the idea of the 'whole hog' to the extreme and included bones, teeth, trotters as well to add to the crunchy texture.

As far as I'm concerned there are only two types of good ham...the thick sliced one my local deli does off the bone and the Southern Baked Ham my aunt used to cook up at Christmas and Thanksgiving (even better a couple of days later fried with mash and red-eye gravy...mmmmmmm!).
Cue the music, fade to black...
