Predator 1 or Predator 2?

I've watched these back to back tonight. Both very different but both great in their own right. I'm going with number 1 though because A: Arnie and Apollo and B: I preferred the jungle setting.

What's your thoughts folks, and what of the other predator movies, do you like them?

Predator 1 is a classic, the jungle setting works well and has a great cast of characters. Have seen Predator 2 a few times, doesn't quiet do it the same as Predator 1 for me.

Love them both, but Predator 1 is in my top 5 films of all time... Predator 2 would brobs be in my top 20.

2 is a quality film and proves a sequel can be done with a different cast. But 1 is the better film by far.

iprefer predator 2 it just gives a whoel new dimension to the idea
predator 1 feels too much like rambo with an alien

course it may just be bias speaking since i saw 2 first

I thought the sequel was terrible, it left me very disappointed. Maybe I should watch it again for a reappraisal, since it was so bad first time Ive actively avoided it since.

I didn't like 2 when I first saw it and avoided it for a while, but then I watched it again about 7 or 8 years ago I thought it was okay. The original is FAR superior though.

i have the blu ray which comes with 2 commentary tracks which also help a lot

I see both films good in their own right as the first film set in the jungle & the 2nd one is set in the near future in the urban jungle with 2 tribes (Jamaicans & Colombian) fighting it out in the city & the police caught in the middle!

Probably what swing it for most people for the first film because of the many one liners in it!

Both films are a hell a lot better than the Aliens vs Predator films & Predators as well!

Thought Predator 2 was garbage, Predator 1 is by far the better film.

Predator 2 was good , but Predator is one of the best films ever, with some great characters. one-liners and a great deal of tension. Plus it features a mini-gun which has to be a massive plus.

Predator is one of my favourite films ever, but I've always wondered what it must have been like if you were able to walk into the cinema with no real knowledge of what it was. You basically get 30 minutes of Commando 2 before it take a complete about turn into sci-fi horror.I do like the second one and that it did something different with a main protagonist who wasn't as physically strong, but it suffers from the inevitable problem that you already know who the antagonist is

For me it has to be number 2, I love the first one but there is just something I love about the second

I think the first one is probably the best. It has Arnie in it - after all. Plus, the jungle setting - and perhaps there is sort of the subtext of how the US interfered with some of the South American countries. I also love the classic line : "You are one ugly mother****er!" between Arnie and the alien. When it was first on ITV - it got cut to shreds! I think they heavily edited the minigun attack!

The sequel tried to do something different - but it lacked a certain zest compared to the original.
