Dementia - I Need Your Help Please

Post by PrimalScientist » Fri Sep 20, 2013 8:09 am

Hi All.

I know I dont post a lot on here but I do read the threads.

However, today I am asking for your help.
Recently we received the awful news that my wife has Pre Senile Dementia.
We are both in our 40's and this is a disease that mainly affects those that are over the age of 65.

Unfortunately my wife is slowly getting worse and until the medical team can get the right medication sorted for her they might be able to slow down the decline in her memory / cognitive skills.

Anyway, recently there has been a lot of activity with regards to a new technology that is being developed called Space Glasses.
They are looking for people to submit app ideas and I have submitted one called Dementia Help - Brain Training.

I would appreciate it so much if you could vote for my app to try and get it in to the top 10.
The apps that make the top 10 get funded for development.

Here is the link:

https://www.spaceglasses.com/applicants/547

If anyone has a relative that is suffering with this awful disease then you will know what I am talking about.
Watching someone you love slowly slip away is the worst thing in the world.

Thanks for any help given.

Regards,

Primal.

I used to work in the care sector and have passed the link onto some of my friends that still work there, the company is Anchor and I would think that they'll forward the link about the 10000+ employees they have.

It doesn't sound good at all. Sorry to hear about it. :(

One of my mate's grandma died from dementia few years ago. I was shocked when I heard the news as I haven't seen him for a while. He went through a very difficult time when it comes to term of family loss and it hurt a lot. Plus I recalled meeting her for the first time while at my mate's place nearly ten years ago.

Hope there's a solution to battle against this disease.

Yeah its not good but they can slow down the process with medication and brain training (or trying to keep the mind active you know).

Sorry to hear about your friends nan. It is difficult and upsetting.

I just need support for this app that helps people with dementia and they have developers that will produce it.
They will also fund it if it stays in the top 10 apps.

Thanks for your kind words bro.
She is doing okay at the moment. We just need to get the medication sorted ASAP to try and slow it down.

I've voted. My granddad suffered with this for the last few months of his life. Went from the most loving person i've ever known to being sectioned under the mental health act within 6 short months.

Good luck with the app.
