Having a vagin* must therefore make the game impossible to play in some bizarre way. I'd love to hear the makers explanation?

Not on RG team. Not on at all.
The RG team aren't directly involved with the content of adverts, the space is "rented" to Google's Doubleclick and they farm out banners based on context if memory serves (in other words, host site is about gaming so send gaming banners).
That doesn't absolve responsibility for what is displayed on their site.

Correct SirClive...it doesn't.
I received a polite response from IP this morning basically stating that i.e. it's a Google thing...we have no control over the content etc. Although to be fair they did promise to look into it further.
Doesn't wash me me really. If the banner was e.g.pornographic i'd imagine (pun intended) that they'd move pretty quickly to have it removed? Not that, obviously, the offending item is comparable to pornography but.......

Correct SirClive...it doesn't.
And i never said it did, but if anyone is going to complain it'd be better to go to the source of the adverts (either the company behind the game or Doubleclick) and that the RG team have nothing to do with the banners.

Yeah, well, it has inspired me to install an ad blocker. Also decided to install an extension (Incognito on Safari) that blocks google tracking.

I really like that banner. I asked my GF if she thought it was sexist and she simply said no. Just get a life people and don't worry about largely innocuous ad banners. :D

I am not bothered by content of an ad that is aimed at one gender or another or sexy ads but it does bug me when an ad company tries to 'restrict' its sales to one gender even if it is just by a 'men only' slogan.

When Yorkie started their campaign, I stopped buying Yorkies thinking if they don't want my female money then fine, they won't get it.

To be honest though I'm more mature these days and just ignore the silly ads. I like McCoys too much to get precious over it.

Still not bought another Yorkie though

The ad was a bit offensive I thought. Not RGs fault though, they don't hand-pick what ads they get.

Exactly the reason why I stopped buying Tampax.

Ha ha very good !

But seriously though i dont know why people get so wound up by it. I think its a stupid decision by that company saying is 'not for girls' as they could lose a fair few sales out of it. But again i find the hypocrisy laughable when the OP has a picture of a teenage girl who looks like shes in stockings as his avatar.

I could understand people getting upset by the adverts featuring 'ring a granny' in the backpages of RG many years ago with those basically sex line adverts (thankfully i wrote the number down ;), but seriously this just seems very very tame.

I mean people here play GTA, we run over people in the game, thats all okay. But the second someone posts a sexist advert, oh no no no! I wondered who the people were who complained about the Game Over nipple back in 1985 were !!

I really don't know what the problem is here.

Did the OP get this narked off when Nintendo ran those Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time ads all those years back? The ones that said 'Will thou save the girl or will thou play like one?'

We should all just start a Off Topic thread about....I dunno...'penis names' or something. Nobody ever gets offended by those......

Is penis a swear word? I actually nearly used recently but then didn't for fear of the swear nazis.

Yo' TDogg, can you let me know if your post gets reported please.

I come here to read about and discuss retro games. I don't see why I should have to keep seeing some elven tart with her tits hanging out on every page refresh.
