Torrent Help

Post by Kickboxingshrimp » Wed Mar 14, 2007 5:33 am

right..im getting fed up now...

Azureus (sp) wouldnt work at all...

BitTornado was too slow...

BitTorrent is the best i got, but even that only downloads at average 10kb/s.....too sllllloooowwwww...

i got a 1.5meg broadband connection.....and every other forum talks some strange computer language that i cant follow!...

So far, ive opended the ports on my router, configured Bittorrent to be using those ports, dissabled windows firewall, and configured the router firewall (Even disabled it to no avail), and im still getting slow download speeds....can SOMEONE explain to me if this is the norm, or what speeds i should be reaching..and how to go about doing it!

*Humph*

Your torrent speed might be all you can achieve if your ISP is shaping traffic.
They either bandwidth limit bittorrent packets or prioritise them below normal web traffic.
If they do, then protocol encryption might be your only course of action.
I've seen settings in azureus to do this, others might be able to suggest if utorrent etc support the same features.

I think it depends on where you download from, some places I get stuff that trickles down at a few k a second and other places I can get it at up to 250k a second, I don't think it's down to you more the people you're getting it from, although I'm sure someone on here will prove me wrong.

Since the Sky One fiasco, I've been using uTorrent to get 24, Lost, and the Stargates, and it was easy to setup. It even took me to a place that told me how to open my ports for my specific router.

I'm on a 2Mb connection, and I've been getting 350Mb files in about 3 hours.

Its also dependent on the number of seeders to leechers ratio. If there are 3 people downloading for every person seeding and each of those seeds is set to limit the upload bandwidth then its not your internet connection its just the limited size of the data stream.

If you get a pipe that will take 1000 litres of water a second but only pour 10 litres a second into it then its only going to provide 10 litres a second.

Of course I am! It's on the SF channel tonight. I'll be watching it then.

I just got the latest 24 episode in just over an hour :D

I get them from isoHunt.

torrentspy.com for me 100%

Have got the first 11 episodes of Heroes but must admit wasnt blown away by it all. Theres soooo many big name american TV shows i do try and limit myself to a handful otherwise i'll spend my whole life downloading and staying in watching all of them !

As i've said before in the old days you had one major TV epic (Eg V on ITV in the 80's), now theres just soooo many its difficult what one to watch !

Cant wait for the final batch of the Sopranos in April, hope the last 12 will be good as the first 12 were pretty dire.

I find that BitComet works just fine.

Thing is with using torrents you need patience and lots of it!!

I've noticed can get video down in about 5hrs (if it's a well populated torrent) music in about 30mins!
