^ Although strictly speaking it should be England and Wales.
Which is why we only have our own team for the occasional exhibition one-dayer.
And yes, congratulations to the "Welsh and a few other blokes we very kindly allowed to play" Lions!

Well what a final. Glad a british player has finally won wimbledon (mens singles before anyone says).
Top marks to the fella, must have been hard after last year but to come back and win it this year, plus the olympics, US open etc. Hats off to him.
To think back in the 90's we were cheering on crappy Jeremy Bates ! Top marks to Murray

I'm sure I don't need to say it... but I'm very very chuffed with Mr Murray.
Well done Andy.
That should cement a number 1 ranking soon, shouldn't it?

Re: Wombledon: A thread
Missing the French won't have helped, given the way the rankings are determined. And Murray is still miles behind Djokovic there... to give you an idea, the difference in ranking points between the two would take Lukas Rosol (currently ranked #40) into #8 if you added them to his ranking points total.

No, he's still a long way behind Djokovic in the rankings. Murray was out of action for most of the clay court season and that's cost him a lot of points. Even retaining the US Open wouldn't do anything to close the gap, as he'd just be maintaining his points from last year for it.Fishsta wrote:I'm sure I don't need to say it... but I'm very very chuffed with Mr Murray.

Still, there's clear daylight now between him and David Ferrer in third place, thanks to both Federer and Nadal going out early. People will now start talking about the "big two", rather than the "big four"; at least until someone else gets up there with them.

I can think of a lot more people whoe should be knighted ahead of Murrarse

That's what I'm thinking as well, because federer is getting on a bit and Nadal's got that dodgy knee...but!!!!! We have to remember Nadal didn't play between July last year to this February. He's got zilch ranking points to defend, so assuming he'll be back, there's no question he'll be number 3 very very soon, and maybe number 2 after that. Still don't think he'll win a major outside the French though.Matt_B wrote:No, he's still a long way behind Djokovic in the rankings.
