I got the 'just the shows' box sets, so no extras I'm afraid (don't normally bother with commentarys anyway though).

Anyone got it and know the answer?

Oh and I would say that 8 is no worse than 7, so you might aswell go for it.

The date on the news story about the movie is.....18th April 2003.

I know movies take along time to make and all that, but..... :(

I don't think the film will ever happen, and I'm not sure it would work now even if it did. RD started to go down hill when Rob Grant left after Series 6.

He used to be really good - his role as Holly isn't that far from his stand up delivery. Haven't seen anything of him in donkey's years though so he may have lost his edge. I hope not as I really liked him. Got to be worth a punt though, it'd be a bit like going to a fan convention. Wonder if he still gets Holly hecklers?

Last I heard Doug Naylor was in New Zealand to start pre production on the movie. However that was nearly five years ago. I cant think of any movies with a budget of approx $12 million taking five years to make.

I'd have to say the movie looks unlikely but i keep my fingers crossed for a ninth series.

I also think they should use the movie script as a storyline for a Red Dwarf video game. A decent 3D action adventure with the voices of the original cast wouldn't be too much to ask for now would it?

I'm a massive RD fan, have been since the first series and I always thought the \"movie\" was just a joke, an \"in gag\"...?

If you listen to the comentry on the DVD (SirC, you must get hold of the full DVD, the comentry is funny as...) it always seems to me as if they snigger when they mention the \"movie\"....

The storys on the commentry about Norman making \"friends\" with 2 massive Rasters in a club \"up north\" etc crack me up every time..

Anyone else here got Craig's stand up video Life on Earth..? It was filmed just after he was released from prison and is quite funny in places, his poetry is funny as well, the \"school bully\" one being my fav....

Craig Charles did a series called Captain Butler, has anyone seen that? or even better, does anyone have it?

I saw a few Captain Butlers. I don't have any recorded though.

I can't remember much about it, so it can't have been brilliant.

Would that be a piratey themed thing?

It was horrible. Really, really horrible. As if someone with no budget or scripwriting ability had set out to ruin Craig Charles career.

Saw a few, tried to like it, had erased it from memory until now.

Not worth the effort of tracking down even as a retro curio imho, unless you want an example of how bad tv can be.

No, that would be Coronation Street.
