Anyone have any insite into this and an effective method?

I have used some google-fu but wasnt sure on the best one.

I have a SD card ready and a PAL Wii i want to play emulations and games from other regions on.

Me too! I set up my new PS2 hard drive yesterday and spent a few hours ripping my, more valuable discs.

Now I need something else to do!

Letterbomb is probably the best hack to use. It works on the most recent firmware version and needs no additional software.

cool, I have seen Letterbomb mentioned so I will get some tutorials on installing it.

definitely do it, its really simple and makes the wii soo much better. I hadnt turned mine on in about a year, decided to do this and now i have a multi region machine (also plays multi region gamecube too). Now i just need to look into putting a hdd on there and sticking some wii and gc games on it

I used Letterbomb. It didn't take too long and now my Wii is a testing station for roms and it's awesome. Also plays imports. :D

Use this guide, its always updated, you only need to do chapter 1 from the guide if your just wanting emulators & region free wii

Takes about 15 mins, easy :D

Really easy to do - If you are a proper noob to it, download 'ModMii' and follow the steps - it downloads all the files tailored to you and also a custom guide.

my partner has project zero 4 on import and a Japanese to English translation patch. it needs the wii to b modded . any advice to avoid bricking the wii ?. i will find out the name of the patch.
