Overheard the staff talking in my local; they said this Thursday (although I guess that could easily change)

Definitely. I've played so many that I would have hated to pay £40-£50 for but sub-£5 is not so bad at all. Games like Golden Axe Beast Rider for example - still felt like a fiver badly spent but I didn't feel too sick about it.

I don't even know if the Blockies in town is still open or if it closed down the previous time they went bust. The building and logos are still there but I've never been bothered to visit it more than twice. Dirty stock, staff more interested in having a chat and some weird entry/exit system with barriers like it was a security gate at an airport. The only decent thing I bought from there a few years ago was Okami on PS2, new for £8.

My local store shuts on Friday. It's a big place. A big, empty place: most of the stuff had clearly already been flogged by the time I'd got there yesterday afternoon. 50% off of everything, which would have been grand had I owned a PS3 as there was some decent stuff available, like Splinter Cell Blacklist, Saints Row 4 and Batman Arkham Origins.

Well I or one will be treating the Blockbuster's staff respect with my last trip over on Wednesday, they will be there selling off the last remnants and still doing their job... hope they find work soon!

Blockbuster in Kidderminster still had plenty of stock on the shelves as of yesterday (19th) and the discounts weren't as good as I would've liked. 50% off sticker prices but most of the decent used games were still marked at 13.99 or more anyway, and only 20% off chart games. The shelves are still rammed with DVD's too, not sure what's going on with the pricing when you consider that any day soon could be their last.

Took a nosey in there yesterday, and came away this lot:
Skyfall blu ray (new) - £16
Deep Impact blu ray (new) - £7
The Hangover blu ray (new) - £5
Fallout 3 GOTY edition (pre-owned) - £11

Worked it out, after 50% off it would have come to just over £21, what with Hangover priced at £7 originally. However, for some reason, he scanned the dvd version of Skyfall, and Hangover came up as a fiver, so I actually got the lot for £13 :D

Popped in today and picked up Resident Evil 6 on the 360 and The Five Year Engagement on DVD.

Was chatting to the guy behind the counter who seemed canny, felt sorry for him but sadly you can see where they were going wrong. Even in the sale the DVD's are massively overpriced compared to other places.

They never stocked GOTY editions (Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Borderlands, etc.) in my local branch; I always presumed it was because people would just copy the DLC from the second discs and bring them back?!

My local's still limping on, though they seem to be filling the shelves with socks at the moment.
