Rubbish films you love!

Post by TheDude18 » Mon Jan 14, 2013 7:33 am

What films do you end up re-watching time and time again even though you know they’re crap? Or which films which are generally regarded as poor yet you can’t get enough of?
Being a Bond fan they’re are quite a few duffers to pick from (Moonraker, Golden Gun, A View to a Kill) Yet I always return to them, even though I know deep down they are tosh and have plenty of other films that I haven’t seen yet that I could watch instead.

Jaws IV is another one. A real stinker, yet I can’t help myself

But my favourite will always be Rawforce!
Here’s the trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g0jjp3miDU

You want a Kung Fu film with a Bruce Lee lookalike?
You want cannibal monks?
You want Zombie Kung Fu experts?
You want needless nudity?
You want a bad guy that looks like a Chinese Hitler?

And if you have an hour and a half spare here’s the full film –

Hellraiser IV - Bloodline - apparently so bad the director, Kevin Yagher, disowned it (hence the fake-name 'Alan Smithee' in the credits), but I thik it's great. It shows not only the origins of the box but the end of the Cenobites in a cleverly conceived futuristic space station.

And then there's Elvira: Mistress of the Dark - ludicrous and hilarious.

Rocky V - the gaping plotholes (how come he's only just come back from fighting Drago yet his son has aged five years?), the shameless Don King pastiche (though not quite as bad as Lucius Sweet, it's still painfully obvious), the Elton John song at the end (pure saccharine) yet it's got something about it - a down-to-earth feel missing since the original and of course that street-fight at the end - sue him for what, indeed!

Loaded Weapon 1 - I'm a sucker for spoofs and this was definitely a case of diminishing returns after Airplane, The Naked Gun, Top Secret and Hot Shots but any film with Samuel L. Jackson AND William Shatner can't be all bad.

I love Saturn 5, and that's atrocious, but not my favourite bad film by a long stretch.

I once watched a film completely in Thai - no subtitles, no dubbing. Just so we could watch the action sequences really, but it was fun to try and guess the plot. I think it was called Kurd Ma Lui (possibly not the right spelling). It's directed by and starring Panna Rittikrai, an absolutely amazing kick boxer who seems to inspire utter disregard for safety in his stuntmen. The stunts aren't really stunts as such, as it seems to be people actually hurting themselves on camera. The fights are the same, no punches pulled at all. Definitely the most fun I've ever had watching a bad film.

John Carter - was slated but I thought it was really really good. I'll be watching that again.

Robot Jox - Fantastic!
And if anyone can find it, Mutant on the Bounty. Funny, rubbish, brilliant :D

Event Horizon - slated by critics, terrible RT score, but I thought it was great. Probably the most imaginative and disturbing depictions of hell I've seen since Dante.

God, too many to list, I love trash-cinema.
Top would be:
Rawhead Rex - Terrible adaptation of an amazing Clive Barker short story but I find myself watching it time and again.
Freaky Fairytales - Wow, so awful and silly but the effects and campness are great.
Sewage Baby - A terrible Troma type movie but good fun.
Time Walker - Cleverer film than the budget allows, I like it.
Q The Winged Serpent - I'm a sucker for a giant monster movie and I do love this one.

I love 'Earth Girls Are Easy'.

I just always liked Jeff Goldblum in it. His most sexiest performance.

Jim Carey as Wiploc is as funny as ever but generally the acting and script are atrocious.
