The Great Disappointment

Post by clarance » Fri Dec 21, 2012 1:56 pm

Christmas morning, presents opened, big disappointment - maybe you got what you wanted but it turned out to be pure dross, driven through false shiny adverts promising the impossible - not half as exciting as the box it came in.

Maybe you got something that you thought was baba but instead was a slow burner that kept you going until it was back to school?

Or maybe your parents decided to substitute your object of desire for an Amstrad or some such similar?
Death may be your Santa Claus.

Rhino from Mask. It looked like the best thing since optimus prime but turned out to be the worst thing since ET on the 2100

It was a dark winter, that one. Especially when you only get one or two games per year...

it didn't get much use.

Dinky Kong on the Oric 1. I was a massive Donkey Kong fan so imagine my horror when I loaded this up Christmas day. I expected a perfect arcade clone

Last year.
I had put loads of retro games on my list for Mrs Tachi and, with excitement opened a big box to find nothing but a new pair of shoes (unneeded) and a big pillow with Daddy sewn into it (supposedly from my daughter).

Most years of my childhood, asked for a console, took years until I got my first GB, asked every year for a dog, my fleabag didnt come until I was 13 and I thought this year was going to be a poo one as I knew alot of the presents I was bought were duplicates (some annoyingly even after it had been made known I already had them or somone else had bought them), however Ive got a shiny new camera early aswell as a huge pile of 360 games from the missus and her sister along with the complete Monty Python run, so Im a very happy boy :D

I've been thinking about this for a while now and I can honestly say I've never had a disappointing Christmas, how lucky is that?
