I know it works that way for the FA Cup but I always thought that with the League Cup, if the winners have qualified for Europe via their league position that the Europa League spot went to the team with the next highest league finish rather than to the losing finalist?Sputryk wrote:Well, would you Adam and Eve it! Now, if it is Chelsea in the final that would (practically) guarantee Bradford entry into the Europa Cup next season. How's about that then for a League 2 team!

Yeah, I'm afraid Bradford would have to win it to qualify for Europe...
"Should the FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Football League Cup winners already have qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Premier League."
Of course they have qualified for Europe in the not-so-distant past, when they played in the Intertoto cup in 2000.
They got put out in the semi final by Zenit St. Petersburg & oddly enough Andrei Arshavin (who played for Arsenal in the Quarter final) made his debut that game. Even more oddly, had Aston Villa beaten Celta Vigo that year they would have played them in the final.

Nice work from Eden Hazard tonight. Very happy spurs didn't sign him.

Hazard should get a lengthy ban and community service order like Cantona. Crap pundits like Glenn Hoddle should be locked up in the Tower of London for harping on about the ballboys timewasting. Hazard committed an assault and it is wrong of the police not to pursue a criminal charge.

No i say 3 match ban and make hazard a ball boy at final between Swansea & Bradford.
Re: 2012/13 Football season chat
Mind you, considering what said ballboy wrote on Twitter before the game (i.e. he was purposefully going to time-waste) I'm amazed Swansea let him carry out his duties.
We all know what ballboys are meant to do late in a game but you don't admit it!

Re: 2012/13 Football season chat
That is still no excuse for kicking the ballboy in the ribs. It's been happening for years - throw the ball in a puddle before the opposition take a throw in, roll it slowly to your keeper to waste time, throw it to a different player.Liamh1982 wrote:Mind you, considering what said ballboy wrote on Twitter before the game (i.e. he was purposefully going to time-waste) I'm amazed Swansea let him carry out his duties.

If Hazard had kicked another player stopping him from getting at the ball, he would be called a thug and fined/banned heavily. The police are still investigating and I hope the FA take a strong line in this case.

Nile Ranger arrested for rape? He's a proper scrote, of course I don't know if he's guilty but he's deffo a scrote
Re: 2012/13 Football season chat
Writing your name with £20 notes seems like the actions of a scrote, I'll grant you that.koopa42 wrote:Nile Ranger arrested for rape? He's a proper scrote, of course I don't know if he's guilty but he's deffo a scrote
And merman, of course I don't condone Hazard's actions (he deserves whatever punishment both Chelsea and the FA dish out), just saying that maybe the ballboy should not have been so blatantly ticking down the clock.
Re: 2012/13 Football season chat
That still does not give Hazard any right to do what he did. Watch again and he actually knocks into the boy as the lad goes to pick up the ball. Hazard has been charged with violent conduct and faces at least one extra match out on top of his three match ban for the red card.Liamh1982 wrote:Writing your name with £20 notes seems like the actions of a scrote, I'll grant you that.koopa42 wrote:Nile Ranger arrested for rape? A few transfers at Forest at the moment.
Darius Henderson in from Millwall and Lee Camp, Brendan Moloney and Matt Derbyshire all out to Norwich, Bristol City and Blackpool, first two permanently.
