Hey thanks for the bump, I was meaning to address this at some stage, the book is actually finished now, other than a nick here and nack there, I've put in on the back burner because of other projects I've been devoloping and hope to reveal in the near future :) , plus doing the Atari gamer magazine and promotion for it has taken up a considering amount of time, but there are issues with the release and publication of the Coin-Op book, firstly is money, although I had some amazing quotes regarding the printing costs of it, logistics off post and packaging and all the other wonderful things I had planned for it, website, possible t-shirts, music cd's and advertisements etc..to deliver it to you guys, have made it a very high risk investment with little or no insight to the reality of it making its goals to justify the cost to begin with, so I need to reevaluate all of these things again along with all the other projects I'm working on to help offset and possible make it a reality to have it physically in my hands aswell as others and get it out there

I'm not saying it will never be, I'm saying I just don't know went. Also to mention I do not want to go down any kickstarter root to raise the funds needed to produce this book as I feel there is too much work and effort regarding perks, release dates and meeting people's expectations and any other hidden pitfall attached with doing fund raisers and feel I would have to nearly double the content to justify the fund raising on it, as the book has taken months so far to create and wouldn't have the time do all that, not saying the book is short has like over 500 screenshots in their actuall pixel ratio which is very sweet to look at and other great stuff I've yet seen in an arcade book.

But again thanks for the interest, its still here, just have to try and see what happens, if I win the lotto, you'll all be guaranteed to be notified that's its in production :)

Cheers .
Thanks for the update GF, appreciate that. The books sounds terrific, and you'll definitely have a few keen buyers ready when you have the time/funds available to 'make it so.' All the best to you :)

*And added footnote: Don't give a bollocks about all that Kickstarter perk BS

Hi everyone,

You probably all thought that this book had been canned, vapour-ware and full of hot air or he's full of bullsh!t after starting it back in 2012, 4 years ago? Well, I know I haven't been posting here at the RG forum for a while on and off etc. I'm here to announce that the book has now been completely redeveloped from the ground up, with as much as humanly possible even more arcade graphics cramped in to the existing pages of the book, the book was originally going to be about 130 pages of back to back imagery of classic arcade content in 2012 over five sections, it's now got two new additional ones, I'm here also to announce that it will now be going over the 200 page mark now with brand new and unseen content over some 90 pages. I have taken great time and research in going through what has been done before this book and still it has been unmatched to the level of work I've invested within it.

I'm here to state that the book has had 4 revisions and I'm adding the additional and final chapter at the moment to the book, so I thought I'd reignite this thread with a small at what to expect from the book when it's kick-starter is ready for launch, as I've also got some deadly perks too to reveal, but all will become clear very soon. So I'm sorry if I've let any one down or disappointed anybody, There was no way I could produce such a book and have released it in its former state when I last post about this in 2014. All will be revealed as soon as I've got it all locked down, till then enjoy......please right click and select "View Image" in your browser as they are been cropped by the forum right margin.

I hope you all enjoy this preview presentation, I will announce the Kick starter for this real soon, just getting quotes, figuring out logistics and putting together some wonderful exclusive stuff to the perks. This book will be definitively happening! 8)

All the best

Darren.

Thanks fella, I appreciate the comments, I think what makes the book or is going to make the book unique is the amount of effort given to each arcade game, normally its a screen from the game, text etc. where as in the Coin-Op Arcade Guide the game is celebrated to the max, I've taken every effort to utilize my skills to throw down the gauntlet in its visual impact to the reader, I have a rough draft of the book here in A4 and it's pretty bad ass :)

Looks amazing. Exactly what I want

I love the speccy/Amiga books but I've been dying for an arcade one. Can't wait to get this. Please have an option for a pdf version (like the letter books above) so I can have a copy on my phone as well

Can't wait for this to be released. Looks great

Cheers Paul,

yes there will be a digital version of the book in the Kickstarter as well as the usual get the digital copy when you back the physical book etc. I know I've been ages doing this, but you'll see why when it get finally released, I now have the unbelievable task of sorting out all the logistics of getting this made, distributed and boxed off..the part I've been dreading the most and keeping it at a reasonable price. Been based in Ireland isn't exactly the cheapest place to be in, we'll call it "Monte Carlo without the Casinos" over here. But I have to get this done.

Thanks again for the great support!

Worth checking with Boyo what printer he uses ?

Anyway congrats to getting to this stage. I think for the rest of us its a great time at the moment, retro mag every month, retro specials, the compilation books by Sam Dyer, the books by Boyo and your book upcoming etc. Plus the Artcade book coming out and now this. We're spoilt !

But been dying to get a book like this for arcade machines, i do appreciate the Speccy/Amiga/C64 books by Sam/Boyo (Would love a Gameboy one personally !) but an arcade one will be brilliant.

Glad to see this has moved forward and that it's at a stage you are now happy with.

Never really got into the kick starter thing but I will certainly be mega interested in getting this. Big dose of nostalgia for me reading this as I miss the eighties arcade scene.
