I don't know how anyone can complain there wasn't enough retro at Replay, it was packed with the stuff  Did you happen to miss the masses of pinball tables, BBC Micro, retro stalls, retro competition areas, row after row of retro consoles and computers. Those big boxes that covered one side of the hall weren't TV's, they were these amazing things called arcade machines.

Dont get me wrong i love playing the arcade machines, trying out some of the older consoles (Specially vectrex) but i must admit at these shows its great just seeing lots of fellow retro people from different forums as over the years you get to know a fair few. Like our big yearly gettogether !

Would be good if there was a retro show early on though, for me the Sheffield/Stoke shows really filled the gap until Replay later in the year.

Personally, for me as a resident of Chorlton, chuffed to bits :)

A fair few Mancs & Manc residents are on this forum and the meetup in the Lass is anything to go by, then I'm sure that something will get organised on the Friday before Replay. :)

I don't agree with "Replay is degenerating Blackpool" vibe that's going around, after all it wasn't their decision to leave.

Am going to miss my pre-replay swims in the hotel though :(

Should point out it's not my idea! There is (I think) a Lass night on the Friday night planned anyway. Whether that gets bumped due to Replay the next day I'm not sure.

RMLF - just had a thought... if the event had been moved to somewhere other than Manchester, would you have been just as annoyed?

I.e. if they'd moved it to somewhere like Liverpool / Sheffield / Leeds, or somewhere around the Midlands like Birmingham or Nottingham for example, would it still invoke the same fury in you, or is it just because it's Manchester and there's some history of resentment there?

(I'm genuinely not trying to have a go, just trying to understand where you're coming from on this)

From a completely selfish, personal point of view I'm not 100% sure I'm ecstatic about the move to Manchester.

There are already so many great retro nights going on (at least 3 a month) & there have already been so many events in Manchester.

Although it's only been on the go 2 years, Replay is such a MASSIVE event that it's the one event in the year I make damn sure I'll attend and it would be nice to have an excuse to have a weekend away in a different city, hopping on a train, staying somewhere different, it's nice to abandon your responsibilities & be a child again once or twice a year.

Instead I'll probably end up going to the same old places I've been going to for the past eleven years since I moved here & then go home & try to sneak in in the early hours and not wake the whole house up.

And more!! Yeah, I was going to get started on that one, but I thought I'd never finish :D. I don't mind people saying they don't like the place, but saying there's nothing to do other than shopping? Just bonkers :|

Well i live quite close (near Bury) but i'll probably be staying over in a hotel and treating it like a weekend away. Same with the Stone Roses gig, my wife said 'wont you be coming back every night ?', errr no ! My mates are up, just having a weekend away from everything, same with the next retro show.

The second the venue is announced for the retro show then its worth booking the Travel Lodge (or whatever the place is) months in advance as its so cheap. Can then relax, have a drink etc etc. Plus you dont wake 'the whole house up'

Yeah thats total crap, nothing to do than shopping !? Manchesters got a lot of very good places to go to, lots of decent pubs/restaurants and the nightlife is good, last time i found a great little indie club with people my sort of age, no drum n bass rubbish there !
