Made two holes in the side of the cab to install the speakers on. The speakers, grill and amp are in the PO - they came today but no-one was in!!

Cut a base and back panel this evening and sprayed with enamel black paint. Drilled a hole for the power strip cable to go through - will add a Maplin kettle socket when I have time. Also made a VGA in and audio in panel - this is so I can detach all the cables when the cabinet is not in use. Will take some pics tomoz when I have installed speakers and the bottom and back panel, oh and the bottom of the marquee bit.

Still need to make a USB panel for the keyboard controller - currently the cable will just come out of the back panel.

Ordered a light for the marquee today (£9) as well on E-bay plus also ordered the acrylic for the front and marquee - £11 in total.

Will print a marquee on my new ink jet printer when I have time.

This cab has so far cost:

iCade : £39.99
Speakers, Grill and amp - £11
Keyboard controller - £21
VGA/Audio panel bit - £6
Wood - £4
Light - £9
Acrylic - £11
Composite adapter - £8
Power strip - £4
Card for bezel - £3

So in total : £117.00

Using my current laptop that I use in my Cocktail - when the PI comes out that will be £25 + SD card. Also already had the LCD TV - so saved cost there.

So not bad for a MAME cab with over 5000 games on it.

Added speaker grills and amplifier.

Added a back, with VGA and sound input - you can sort of see that in the video.

Here is my son playing 'The Simpsons' :

Just needs the acrylic front now, a bezel and a marquee. Pretty happy the way it plays.

Very smart :)

You'd think that with having a dad who was a great carpenter that I'd have inherited some of that skill. Alas no, I'm totally rubbish at anything like that and completely jealous of someone who's good at it.
