So... Brucie has "finally" been knighted...

Am I the only person in the World who sees him as a vile, odius little man whose snide comments to contestants on "his" shows often come off not as entertaining, but downright rude and degrading? Seriously, the man is a total censored!

I don't think he is rude or degrading, but I certainly think he has an over-inflated opinion of himself. He is almost a caricature of a prime-time TV/showbiz host; they way he seems to view the audience as 'his' audience; the way he plays up to the crowd and persist with jokes whilst being almost totally oblivious to that fact that people are laughing out of politeness and pity rather than humour and endearment. He seems to be a man massively in denial about the effects that age has had on his ability to string a sentence together, let alone present a television programme.

He kind of reminds me of a stereotypical tragic clown: all smiles and laughter on the outside, playing up for the audience, feeding off their applause; but beneath that painted on smile is a senile, bitter man. Yu get the feeling that Strictly Come Dancing is the only thing keeping him going, and hence why the producers are reluctant to let him go and replace him with someone who can actually read autocues and deliver jokes.

Bruce is a legend of light entertainment, he has dominiated Weekend prime time since the 70's, people forget he can sing, he can dance, he has been in Hollywood movies too. He is a true entertainer. I think it was high time he got knighted. Lesser mortals have have had that privage. Certainly his humour does not really connect with the youth of today, but I am sure the older generations watching strictly like his added touch.

...however he remains one of the few people that have never sent me a signed photo in response to letter, so he is currently in my bad books.

Forsyth is the second most important Brucie in the world (after Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden of course).

Whilst being able to sing to an extent, Forsyth couldn't quite cut the mustard in the world's biggest heavy metal band, as his age may prevent him from running around in spandex trousers on lengthy world tours, and his nylon wig may cause health and safety hazards with the risk of static setting off the pyrotechnics.

However, Bruce Dickinson would make a vastly inferior presenter of Strictly Come Dancing.

I find it impossible to watch him for five seconds without going "wiggy wig-wig-wiggy" and making a flapping motion with my hand on my head.

I used to hate light shows like Noel House, Generation Game as a kid. I wish we had things like Dr Who and Primeval back then. I would have liked that as a kid.

First thought I had when seeing this thread was that he had died. Did not feel anything on thinking that.
