While I was never a fan of Apple he was a also a former Atari employee and it very sad to see him pass away, he without doubt had a massive effect on the industry we all know and love.

How sad. No matter what people think of Apple - he was a true genius and the world of computing / technology will be a poorer place without him. :(

RIP Mr. Jobs. I am using my Imac to type this. He was a giant of the computer industry. Condolences to his family and friends.

Sad for his family and friends, but I was appalled to see Apple say that "the world is immeasurably better" because of Steve Jobs - shame they used his death for PR bullshit.

Sad day for his family, he really did turn around the company, Apple was a bit of a joke a couple of decades ago - hope this thread doesn't stray into some anti-corporate rant later on though...

Well if someone wants that, they can go create an Occupy Wall Street thread.

Despite the reputation Apple had at one point of not caring about gaming, where would we be without the Apple ][ for a start?

There's no denying the man had a Midas touch, he will be missed.

Someone dies far too young of a horrible disease so corporations cash in & internet trolls indulge in schadenfreude, so it goes.

RIP Mr Jobs, you brought out some cool gadgets.

Yeah I caught this on BBC News 24 this morning. RIP dude. :(

Say what you like about Apple's policy of treating the customer like a walking wallet, or their loyal (and that's putting it mildly) fanbase, he did do some great things for the Industry.

So, then: A cause for good (the iPod/iPhone/iPad revolutions) and a cause for evil ("MacHeads", restrictive design, punishing the consumer because of spats he had with competitors, etc) but when all's said and done he's had a great impact on the Industry at large.
Freestyler: A customer that's too hard to please, complains all the time and wants everything for next to nothing.
