retro gaming related survey - please help!

Post by retrogamingmuseum » Mon Sep 26, 2011 9:36 am

Hello everyone. I'm conducting some market research for a new retro gaming related venture which myself and a few others hope to open in London in the near future. If any of you fellows have a spare five minutes perhaps you could post replies with your answers as the responses will be hugely helpful in making a success of the venture. As a thank you I will enter any respondees from this (and one or two other forums I will be posting this on) into a prize draw for £25 to spend in my retro games ebay shop.

I'm also hoping to hand out this questionnaire at Replay if allowed, so if you're going look out for me and I'll tell you all about it if you're interested! Thanks in advance.

1. Are you more interested in? A: Modern Gaming, B:Retro Gaming

Not such an easy question to define.

I like to play games I like!

I play modern and retro.

Depends on my mood.

Probably vear slightly on the retro side.

2. What are your top five games of all time?

GTA series (on the pc, this game needs mouse/keyboard, yes I buy the 6 month early console versions (and bought a ps2 just for that!) but i probably don;t play proper until the pc version!)
Jedi Knight (I really need to put together a retro PC with a voodoo to play it right (looked better under voodoo @ 16bit colour than ati at 32bit if you ask me!)
Final Fantasy series (particularly 7, sorry 7 haters! ;-) it was good)
Wipeout 2097 (game I bought a ps for!)
Monkey Island series (good adventures in general but these were the ultimate!)

3. Would you generally be interested in participating in a tournament with a cash prize for any of these games, with entry at £5 and a prize of around £150-200? A: Very likely, B: Likely, C: Possibly, D: Unlikely, E: Very Unlikely.

D - have you seen my cash flow (feel free to offer me beers to change my mind!)

4. Do you compete in video gaming tournaments and competitions currently?

No, just for fun!

5. What are your top three classic favourite gaming sytems?

PC (it has been going a long time so it counts!)
Speccy
Amiga

6. Do you own any of these original systems?

Yup, all of them (pc's of all ages around here included!)

7. If so how often do you play on any of these systems? A: Very Often, B: Regularly, C: Occasionally, D: Rarely, E: Very Rarely or Never.

B. However I do emulate more often if applicable.

8. When playing classic games which of the following do you prefer? A: The Original Hardware, B: Emulators, C: Mobile Phone.

Is not B & C the same option?

Anyhow:

B if they are up to it else A.

Depends on what I want to play. Is SCUMMVM an emulator? not really. but it is the best way to play such things.

9. What are your two preferred gaming genres? A: RPG, B: FPS, C: Sports, D: Strategy/Sim, E:Platform, F:RTS, G: Other.

A & D (was tempted by other slightly because I liek to mess with the flaws in questionaires!)

10. How likely would you be to visit a comprehensive London-based museum dedicated to classic video gaming? A: Very likely, B: Likely, C: Possibly, D: Unlikely, E: Very Unlikely.

D - Pretty much the same for London in general.

11. How much would you be willing to pay for entry to this museum? A: £4 or less. B:£5-6 C:£7-8 £9-10

A. unless there were freebies!

12. For this price, how many playable systems & cabinets would you expect to see? A: 5-10 B: 10-15 C: 15-20, D: 20+

Systems/cabinets are seperate entities. A "cabinet" could house multiple systems if done right.

Anyhow.

B.

However I would expect more expect a ammount per enterants to enable all to have a go. (So it would depen on the ammount of people in it!)

13. Do you buy any of the following? A: Retro games, B: Consoles, C: Peripherals.

Yes.

14. Assuming the same price, which method would be your preferred choice to buy these items? A: Online, B: In a shop.

Can someone not come around and offer me things?

Ok. B.

15. Are there any specific items that would encourage you to visit the store?

A good selection of things i like and not 16.7 million ea sports games ;-)
