Having Rooney in your side is a given. I would say that not picking him will leave you at a distinct disadvantage to everyone else.

Have made some necessary changes to my team this week. Difficult choices, though. Dropped Dzeko and Young for Rooney and Petrov. With Rooney scoring for fun, had to bring him in. But could only afford to do so by dropping his team-mate! Didn't want to risk dropping Suarez so it had to be hot-shot Dzeko to go. I expect to get bitten on the bum by these decisions; something always goes wrong!

Bensonrad FC
Marvin's Marvels
Gabbafiend FC
Pleccy FC
Bend It Like Burton
Sputryk United
Fredzakistan
Team Alfie
CPFC-2011
The Normandy

Groups 1 and 3 involve a 3-way fight for their remaining automatic qualification place. Group 4 isn't so clear cut - DSTE United can still go out on Goal Difference if both Spartak Rosco 11 and Red, White & Cyan both win. As for Groups 2, 5, 6 and 7, both automatic qualification places are taken leaving the remaining teams fighting for 3rd place qualification.

WIth no thanks to Rooney for feigning injury I am thankfully through to the Last 16. Yay! Sadly, past experience tells me Burton will beat me in the final game. Bah!

Right-o; the draw for the Last 16. Only one rule for the Last 16: no two teams from the same Round 1 table can be drawn together. And as it happens, the draw was kind at the first time of asking in that all teams play someone new.

A) Losing Eleven -v- Bend It Like Burton
B) Winning XI -v- Pleccy FC
C) Cameron Diaz Fanclub -v- Team Alfie
D) Fredzakistan -v- Spennymoor FC
E) Sputryk United -v- DSTE United
F) The Normandy -v- Gabbafiend FC
G) Bensonrad FC -v- Spartak Rosco 11
H) Marvin's Marvels -v- CPFC-2011

WInners of these ties will play as follows for the Quarter Finals: A -v- B, C -v- D, E -v-F, G -v- H
Winners of these ties will play as follows for the Semi Finals: AB -v- CD, EF -v- GH

Game On, folks! :D

I - Sparktak Rosco - have been drawn against Bensonrad FC, who are fourth bottom of the league. With my luck, I'm predicting that I'll get pumped in our tie.

All in all, Spartak Rosco is going good so far. Had a good weekend there, and I'm confident that if my players avoid injury I can finish quite high up the table this year.

Just in time, before the new month's games kick-off tomorrow, here's the league table as at the end of October:

# Team Manager GW TOT
1 SSC Douglas 1926 Christian Carley 50 563
2 Spartak Rosco '11 Ross Phillips 71 539
3 Marvin's Marvels David Marsden 33 521
4 pleccy FC Adam Starr 78 509
5 Team Alfie Craig Hawkins 64 508
6 The Normandy N R 44 505
7 Winning XI Rob Kuczynski 49 478
8 Sputryk United Richard Davy 44 475
9 Fredzakistan Craig Giles 54 473
10 Jamie WonderWard Davey Sloan 40 473
11 Bend It Like Burton Richard Burton 64 462
12 dste United Dan Stephenson 39 461
13 Red, White & Cyan Gordon Sinclair 66 458
14 Losing Eleven Damien Goy 54 456
15 Fuseless Uckwits barry barber 35 455
16 Gabbafiend FC scott adcock 32 449
17 Super Buster Team Go Rich Hopkins 33 447
18 CPFC-2011 Darren Pizzy 45 446
19 The Monkey Butler XI Barnaby Whattingham 53 442
20 Deportivo Box XI Rhys Wynne 37 435
21 Virtual 11 Ed Hale 39 433
22 Firebreathers Frauds steve watson 44 428
23 Stimpson J. County Liam Hughes 33 425
24 Spennymoor FC Chris Rowcroft 53 420
25 Bensonrad FC Benjamin Robinson 44 416
26 Frank's Spankers V5 Frank Gasking 35 410
27 Cameron Diaz FanClub Mike Endredy 36 393
28 sixteenfiftyoners jermaine green 61 389
29 Sons of Pitches Andrew Capener 35 336

So, the good ship Douglas continues to sail away on the high seas, whereas there is still a lot of swearing going on at the bottom.

I've quickly tired of Rooney, replaced with Van Persie, only to no doubt find that he finds his form again and kicks ar5e. And I currenlty have no bench as three players are most likely out of it this weekend, one being a star player. Grrr....

Hmm, I keep forgetting about this and haven't made any changes to my team since August (I think) and I'm actually doing better than usual.

Now I'm going to make some changes. Watch me sink like a stone. I'm worse at being a Tinkerman than Claudio Ranieri.
