Kick Off 2 World Cup - 12-13th November 2011

Post by Steve1977 » Sun Jul 03, 2011 10:49 am

After countless local tournaments and 3 UK Champs in 2 years, the midlanders of KOBRA (Kick Off Birmingham Registered Association! 8) are about to host the biggest of them all... the Kick Off 2 World Cup! An event which has literally been 10 years the making...

Back in 2001 Steve Screech hosted what was to become the World Cup in Dartford. Over the years it snowballed and more regular local tournaments were played as the Kick Off Association (http://www.ko-gathering.com) devised a rankings system to log every competitive game. No matter the volume of these local events, the one constant was a world cup once a year. An event where all the Kick Off fans - no matter their level - meet up for a weekend of fun. Even when the Kick Off's over the days not over as they'r all a cracking bunch of lads who you can have a drink with and catch up on retro gaming. From the bedroom to the board room, there is literally nowhere that Kick Off hasnt been!

People from all over Europe will congregate in Birmingham this November for a fantastic weekend of retro gaming. Every player is seeded so whatever your level, you’ll be sure to have close, competitive games in either of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Cup Competitions. Whereas most gaming these days is a solitary pursuit (even when playing online), there’s something thrilling about lining up against someone who’s in the same room. Trust me, the atmosphere at some of these tournaments is amazing with the shouting and cheering lol

So if you fancy trying to win the world cup for your country, want to relive the golden era of gaming or simply want to meet up and engage with retro gaming enthusiasts then this is for you!
