Tron like it or hate it

Post by DPrinny » Thu Jun 23, 2011 7:50 am

Inspired by another thread.

Tron
Like it or hate it.
Post your opinions on it and the amount of stuff to do with it.

Myself?
I like it. For a film this old to not look dated is great.

I like Cake! never seen either of the films, but then again, I'd never seen the alien films until recently, and am yet to watch the Godfathers! Maybe I'll give them ago if they are on TV.

I loved it back in '82 when i saw it at the cinema, I still love it now.

And as some prove of it's ageing well, I bought the double pack of Tron and Tron legacy and watched them with a 13 and 15 year old, they liked both but preferred the original.

I think TRON is a brilliant film and still very enjoyable to watch. I liked TRON Legacy too

The TRON universe is very, very cool. Uber cool in fact.

The original Tron is a great slice of 80s Sci-Fi.

Tron Legacy, however, isn't.

Tron is dated and nearly unwatchable.

Tron Legacy is one of the most awesome movies I've seen in recent years :D

Despite my protestations in the other thread I've actually gone for 'It's OK'

I think my problem is that I only saw it in full for the first time a few years ago, so it just looks horribly dated. Without the nostalgia it's a pretty poor film plot-wise but I imagine the effects looked amazing at the time.

I do like the shots of the classic arcade near the beginning though I must admit - ironically they have more impact now than they would ahve done at the time! ;)

I enjoyed it when I first saw it, but its been that long I don't really remember the original.

Saw the sequel at the cinema and enjoyed that too. Which reminds me, I need to hunt down the soundtrack.

I hadn't seen Tron until the pre-Legacy hype build-up convinced me it was about time.

The effects impressed me even by today's standards but the plot was terrible. I voted "okay." I haven't seen Legacy.

The old one is great, but.....its the skin tight lycra with the shoddy animated style "pcb" print....the cgi is clean and crisp of the era and so has that retro feel (tho new back then, I know what I mean).

A simple story + clean cgi effects = glorius rainy sunday afternoon fodder

Not seen Tron Legacy yet, yes the cgi will be amazing, but will it hold that retro feel in 25-30 years time with the way animation/cgi is rapidly advancing....all is my opinion of course...
