As for the Republic, given the public hysteria & wringing of hands over Terry Henri's handball, I can only assume they will step aside & let Armenia take their place in the play-offs, after all the keeper shouldn't have been sent off & Simon Cox handled the ball. I assume Cox'll get the same media treatment as Henry did, yes?

Nah course not, the same reason they didn't comment on the players pressurising of the referee to send off aforementioned 'keeper. Remember it's always a disgrace when the dirty foreigners do it but oh not to the British (yers I know ROI aren't British but it's conveniently forgotten when it comes to international football, remember '94 when we all love the Irish?)

You can level many accusations at the FAI, but in fairness you can't blame them for how the UK media portray them!

I see they are among the seeds for the play-off draw, weren't they in uproar about the fact the play-offs were seeded last time too? Doubt it'll be an issue this time round now that they are seeded.

Good to see my club trying to squeeze more money out of the game! I wonder if they get the rights to sell their own games abroad then the ticket prices will come down. Somehow, I don't think so!

For me, it always comes back to player salaries. Liverpool's makes up something like 70% of turnover. That is just ridiculous. The game is broken, and it's never going to fix.

For me, it always comes back to player salaries. Liverpool's makes up something like 70% of turnover. That is just ridiculous. The game is broken, and it's never going to fix.

The league needs to have a salary cap.

Works well in american football. Each team can spend xxx amount on salaries, same for every team. So some players might use up 15% of the total salary cap, others a small fraction. Just makes the whole thing fairer. You can still keep a great side (In american football the Patriots have been constantly good throughout the salary cap years), just helps all the other teams.

To be fair theres a few top teams in the league now whereas before it was just Man Utd or Man Utd/Arsenal.

But the premiership badly needs a salary cap, would make the league far more exciting than the usual 3 or so teams which you know will finish high up every year

isn't american football different though, the way the academies, and the best young players etc come into it? or is that basketball/baseball or something else...
i don't think having a cap would work. it would just mean the best players don't play in the premier league any more.

i agree *something* needs to be done, but i'm not entirely sure what?!
