We did know this was coming. The whole saga is making its way to 3D due to current demand for 3D tat, but they're starting with the prequels as they're the easiest to convert. While the prequels are being done, they're working on the tech to do 2D > 3D translation better than the current bodge for the original trilogy.

While it could be argued this is a bad thing, there's a whole new generation of kids being brought up on the Clone Wars series that have never seen these films in a cinema, so it fills that void. If the oldies don't want them, that's fine, don't go to see them, but don't knock the kids getting what they want. Its potentially a big family event, taking your kids to see Star Wars in the cinema for the first time.

I would probably go and see them. Especially if they did a 3 film marathon (like they did in 84 when I saw the original 3 films). Though I would probably have a nap when Episode 2 is on.

Yep and look at what happend with Clash Of The Titans when they tried to refit 3D after filming it in 2D.

Id maybe watch the last three not for the 3D but its been along time since i saw these at the cinema. I would jump atht e chance to see them at an IMAX. Out of the first three well id watch the last twenty minutes of the second one and i didn't think the third one was too bad.

I've just watched the whole saga (except for Clone Wars, is it any good?) and I wouldn't mind seeing it in 3D... since any excuse to watch a Star Wars movie is good enough for me! But I'm sure it wouldn't add anything new... Episode 1 wasn't as bad as many say, and these people will certainly have a lot more to say now.
But I'd still rather episode 7 to 9 instead...

Dont get all the negative rubbish. The Star Wars fans moan if theres not a blu-ray edition, theres no 3d films etc, George then says yes okay and outcomes the 'cash cow' rubbish.

I'm quite happy with Lucas doing this, that means more Clone Wars series, theres another series coming out next year apparently, the live action tv series hopefully 'soon' will come out which could be epic. If all these blu-ray sales, tickets for the 3d films go well then that means more tv shows and other stuff which is all good.

Plus good point above, i've got a few small nephews who would love to see these films at the cinema. If you dont like it then dont go, no ones forcing you to. Roll on George and his future projects.

I can't remember there being a campaign to create the Special Editions.

By Clone Wars, are people referring to the Genndy Tartakovsky series? Because that was absolutely superb. That series, and the KotOR games, are the best things to come out of the Star Wars universe.
