Back on ITV? Let's not say things we can't take back!

I'd rather have 90% of the season with worse presenters than only 50% of it.

Yes football coverage is quite good on Sky, but who can honestly say that Sky has been good for football... all the greedy grasping money grabbing that goes on, all the ridiculous salaries, all the clubs going bankrupt... Sky is slowly killing football.
[/quote]

Possibly the most naive comment I have read in quite a long time. To say the Sky is killing football is baffling. They provide more coverage of the sport than anyone ever has and they pay a hell of a lot of money for it. Football is bigger than ever now.

Football, if anything is killing itself with crazy salaries, dodgy agents and corruption, clubs spending more than they earn etc etc etc.

I think we'll have to disagree there, although i'm glad i gave you the most naive comment you've heard in a long time. You need to get out more.

I stand by my comment. All that ridiculous money you talk about comes from Sky. They may show a lot of football but at a price... And all the best games are on pay per view.

When are the best games on Pay per view? Football is never on pay per view.

Every week nearly there is a skysports extra game which they charge you another five pounds plus for,and they always choose the manu vs chelsea games rather than west brom v wolves.

Anyway i dont want to argue, you have your opinion and i have mine. I'm very unhappy f1 has gone to sky but if there are people who think thats a good thing then they're entitled to think that.

Not saying it is a good thing, I do actually agree with you. The quality of the sport is in heavy decline at the moment and the last thing it needs is to be on a pay channel I was more commenting on the football thing. F1 needs stabilty in the ruleset and some how it needs to improve the racing before it can thing of moving to a service like Sky.

Sky dropped Pay per view on a football around 4 years ago. All the matches are not on SS1 or EPSN which is a different broadcaster.

Whilst it's certainly a sh1tter that the BBC will only show half of the races. There are countless streaming websites on the net where the other half will available to watch live. I use Justin.tv to watch NASCAR for example.

So havIng to watch half the races on a PC/laptop/iPad is certainly better than not watching them at all.

Apologies, i'm out of date here. Still a lot of money, and i wont be paying it.

Absolutely agree with youabout rules and quality of races

+1

There's no damn way Sky and the Murdoch's will be getting even a single penny of my money.

Despite the cost for an F1 fan or Tennis fan etc. If you are an all sports fan, Sky is fantastic value for money. It is just a pity we cannot choose something like Sky over BBC so we don't have to pay the stupid TV licence anyway.

Sky @40 a month is fine, but Sky plus another 11 a month for BBC is expensive.

I 100% disagree with all of that!

I think Sky's prices are daylight robbery. I'm quite content to pay the BBC license fee as I'm generally very happy with the standard of their output.

Sky is or has killed football to a large extent, If you are a Prem fan it may be all fine and dandy your team getting untold millions to survive and mass exposure, drop down a level to the Champs and then go below and youll find that Football is dying on its arse. The money doesnt trickle down and infact Sky ransomed the entire football league to help keep it a closed shop by threatening to decrease payments to the FL if their recent massive parachute payment deal of 16 mill per season for 4 seasons wasnt accepted iirc. Meaning that the lower clubs would get even less of the pie.

Your comment is naive, even the Prem clubs are in poor health despite the money floating around and teams like Bolton with debts of 90 mill and even Brum who won the League Cup and still may go bust and the problems of Leeds and so on before them chasing the dragon, based on 'secured income of tv rights as that is all that allows them to rack up the debts. Without the Sky money that the Premier League has become dependent on to secure its loans football as we know it will die in this country.

Some people would welcome this as it means that new clubs would be formed and run along traditional lines. But as it stands many people place the blame of the decline of football squarely in Sky's hands.
nakamura wrote: When are the best games on Pay per view? Football is never on pay per view.
Did you miss the entire Sky Prem Plus channel which was PPV only which ran for 6 years? PPV football has been and gone in this sense, and is likely to be coming around again. Many of the foriegn leagues are having to stave off breakaways from top clubs wanting to make their games PPV only scuppering any TV deals. If it comes around here, there will be trouble

AS for the F1 deal what a crock of shit, Sky already had anF1 channeland failed with numbers of 9000 subscribers in the Uk, it was a complete disaster. What makes them think people will pay to see races now is another thing. Sky also promoted F1 rival A1 GP and that sunk after three seasons and from what I can tell viewing figures were naff

When people are being squeezed left right and centre for cash, adding Sky just isnt an option. F1 figures will go through the floor, and with team principles coming out such as Martin Whitmarsh saying that the move is a disaster then that you have to worry for the sports future they only just staved off a breakway at the time of the last concorde agreement this could be the death nail.

So back to Touring Cars and maybe Bikes it is then. What a waste

Already sent complaints to the BBC and FOTA. With any luck this has broken the Concorde agreement with the teams and they sue Bernie and the BBC.
I will not be buying anything from that corrupt arsehole Murdoch - so Sky can stick it. I'd also say that I will not watch 50% of races on the BBC - feck them! If I pay my license (and they make a fecking lot of money with that) then I expect to be able to watch the full bloody thing.

Sky have said they won't have adverts - and that is great, but they can still f*ck off.

Very angry.
