Will try to come to the event but you might hit problems with R3PLAY so near, were you aware of that date?

^Well it is sandwiched between Eurocon and R3play so its really badly timed.
Can I make it?
Unsure as Id need a lift up there again (unless a small windfall means I can get some kinda of thing on wheels)

Guys, Yes we were aware of R3PLAY - our event was actually planned before that. A huge mix up with dates though.
We had already booked our event - way back in May and couldn't really move it much.

I would prefer it if you keep your opinions to yourself please - if people want to come to our event please do as I am sure they will. If people feel it is too close to R3PLAY then fair enough. Up to them.

I am not getting into an argument about who booked what and when, it is an unfortunate turn of events that I hope we can all avoid in the future.

Ok, quick bit of history: when it emerged that RCM & R3PLAY had been scheduled for the same weekend (13-14 November) we were able to push R3PLAY a week further back (to 20-21 November) and Andy managed to bring RCM forward to Oct 31st.

But then we were let down by our original venue and had to switch to the Norbreck at short notice, where the only available dates around that period were the 6-7 November.

Cancelling altogether would have effectively meant flushing a four-figure sum down the toilet (artwork/website commissions, expenditure on arcade machines, consoles, televisions, storage etc especially for the show) and we regrettably had to move forward with the revised dates.

So the RCM crew really aren't to blame and as Andy says, the RCM event will still get a good turnout regardless of R3PLAY, particularly as they have a strong local following.
