An Amstrad, Spectrum & Commodore 8-bit home computer formats graphical comparison.
Compare over 280 classic computer games on the three main home formats from 1983 to 1994.

For a full year I played over 840 8-bit games and taking screenshots just for the fun of it. :D

Good work. Is that an actual paper copy or a mock up shot? If its the real deal, is it available on Lulu? If not, where can we find it for a hard copy?

Just a 3D mockup, I tried the Lulu website but their uploader would not convert the images to PDF correctly and without messing them up.
Their price for a full colour copy was also over £50.

When downloaded the .exe for Windows contains all the pages and runs a little viewer program.

Update:- a paperback edition is now available via Lulu after much fighting with their buggy website and reformatting of every page to meet the specifications, final price guess turned out very close though. £49.99 Full Edition - £13.99 Best of Edition - £7.99 Quick Quide (Currently working on)

Hmm, just downloaded it and tried it out.

I like the idea, and the pages are nice, but the viewer is horrid. It runs in a tiny window that won't expand. Even if I zoom in, then I'm stuck scrolling round a tenth of my screen space. Can we perhaps just have a regular PDF, or just plain images in a zip file, otherwise I'm going to have to rip them all out myself to make it readable.

Don't get me wrong, I like the book, its just the exe doesn't work very well - you either need a huge screen or a low resolution, neither of which suits my laptop.

Yeah, only took 30 mins to program the little viewer for fun and to compile all the pages in to just one file, however if folk would prefer all 327 files seperate I have them in jpeg (90mb - some jpeg artifacts) and png (470 mb uncompressed).

PNG is good for me if you can suffer uploading that for us. I'll settle for the jpegs if you don't want the hassle though. Much appreciated, now we can see all the effort you put in properly.

Very nice! This is much appreciated. Don't suppose you could upload the JPG's too? It would sit perfectly on my Xbox and I wouldn't have to convert anything. 8)

very nice work..but I think a background tune while looking would of made it nicer, and I see the idea behind the thin book size, but aren't screen-shots not suppose to be landscape orientation?, or even a 2 page spread of the previous and next page?.. the zoom feature does not work well with the thin border of the slide-show program, and in that respect your missing all the glory of the screen shot

great idea with some real small tweaks needed...again brilliant work there Eric

well done

Grey.

Or PDFs, the exe interface is horrible to be honest.

Torrent the JPGs/PNGs somewhere? If enough of us promise to seed it for a while it should be ok?

The Strider sample page is perfect at full size, nice and sharp screenshots that are easily visible. The others are ok, but have a little fuzz due to scaling down slightly.
