Re: Famous People from your Home Town
i went to (and lived really close to) calthorpe park school, in fleet. got the bus for a bit over to farnborough then started driving after passing my test. moved to fleet around 1987ish and went to university in 1996, and still go back to visit my folks in the same house. school and the college have changed quite a lot!

personally i dont think i could ever share a bed with a tory. even platonically!Liamh1982 wrote:Susie Dent, you mean.Mcjarv wrote:Vorderman should not be included. freaks me out even to think of her owning an arse! she's like 50! its wrong!
my mate always had a thing for Dictionary corner girl, I have no idea what she is called. haha and i mean my mate, not 'a mate err i mean me'.
And so what if Vorderman's 50? She just has a great arse.
Nigella Lawson's 51 - would you kick her out of bed?

The only person i can think of from close to me is the late actor Stephen Boyd. He was the one who wasn't Charlon Heston in Ben Hur!

Re: Famous People from your Home Town
This is my home town: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harpenden
Eric Morcombe used to live there, the public hall is named after him and my mum says she used to see him in Sainsburys!
Other famous residents include:
Craig Charles
Ashley Young
Lee Dixon
Sir John Lawes
John Motson
Tim Rice
Stanley Kubrick
Andy & Owen Farrell
Martin Gore
Miles Golding
Interesting fact:
In the Monty Python's Flying Circus episode "Deja vu", Michael Palin hijacks a plane and wants it to fly to Luton, then he changes his mind and wants them to take him to Harpenden.

I grew up down the road from Coco the clown's granddaughter ( i think that was the relation) and he was buried in the churchyard just behind my back garden. We occasionally had the International ClownFest held in the village which was odd as there was probably 100-200 people living in the village, and for that week probably an additional 200 clowns wandering around too

Up until recently, I would have said absolutely no-one. However, it turns out we finally have a famous son!
Kevin Pietersen.

The only other thing Pietermaritzburg was famous for was that it was where Ghandi was kicked off that train
