The venue is a hotel! So, the accomodation is about 20 seconds walk (or as long as it take to get from room to lift to main room)

Though the hotel is already virtually sold out. We are not planning to stay there (the organisers, helpers and regulars that is). There are B&B's and small hotels all around the venue, but we will no doubt be trying to get a big booking at a travelodge/premier inn as they are only a tram ride away (and the tram stop is right outside).

Being as I used to live in Blackpool (and still visit quite a bit) I may see if I can stop at either my cousin's or my mate's place. It's a bit further, but will be far cheaper!

There's sh*t loads of accommodation in Blackpool ..... it's up to you how close or far you want to stay. There's a hotel on every street corner .... in fact, there's roads and roads full of nothing but accommodation!!!

There are 2 or 3 of each that are relatively close.

Fair enough.
The nearest Travel Lodge is in central Blackpool (iirc) so that's not exactly walking distance (unless you want to look at the illuminations) but then again, you could always catch the tram up to the venue ... it's cheap and it's direct!
I think the Premier Inn is quite a bit closer tbh.

I wouldnt, I really, really wouldnt!

Great conference venue and facilities, but the accomodation is rank. Strange but very true

The local horror stories are enough to put people off staying,

but heres a nice account from a Thomas Cook rep

My advice, find alternative accomodation!

Are we sure the exhibition hall is any good?
Reading that review of the rooms is shocking. If the service is that bad why are we assuming that the service for the conferance halls is any better?

I believe that all staff has to be brought in from external sources to work in the exhibition halls, it's not really an extension of the hotel... So they will be hiring in bar/security staff etc.

That's the impression I got from talking to Dave and Gordon about it anyway.

No need to assume, The venue is used regularly for computer fairs and various other events and it is always held in high esteem. Even when they are putting entertainment on it appears that the Norbreck is great. Its just its shat at housekeeping it would appear
