If they did, it was an impostor because I wasn't around then :D

I should have just gone around asking everyone and not getting worried about it. Ahh well - next time :)

@Woody, we think we know what happened to your 600, check fitz's thread on Amibay.
There was a rather large amount of tooing and froing between our table and the tournament tables to get the systems running right. We think JuvUK has yours as there was one left at the very end looking folorn and sad.

@Arcadian, Sir Clive, Witchfinder, mohican Kid, Starship and all the other guys. Well done!
It was an awesome event and everyone I've spoken to absolutely loved it.
The atmosphere, the systems, the interviews, the people, all superb. It was great to be a part of it.
Cheers for all your efforts guys. :D

Where was the 'drop off your old crap' table? I had a QL in the back of the car I was going to leave, but the guy at the Museum of Computing said they didn't want any QLs at the moment, so I forgot about it and it ended up coming back home again.

Also forgot to mention that I had the pleasure of meeting FatTrucker (and his missus) too....one of the first people I spoke to there in fact, top bloke. :)

Still surprised that things went as smoothly as they did on the Saturday....at 9pm on the Friday night, I was still frantically trying to get those Xbox steering wheels lined up and stuck down properly. I also managed to kill (I think) somebody's N64 when I was taking spare stuff into the stockroom out back, the bottom fell out of the cardboard box I was carrying, sorry.  Hpopefully it still works, those things are surprisingly robust.

It was great event & knackering at the same time.
Good to see the usual faces as well the new ones & anybody didn't recognised I was on waring a black Eurocon tee shirt & waring a black coat on sunday.
I'm glad to go event or else I would else I missed out a great event.
Special thanks to R3PLAY crew for organising it + woody.cool for giving me a from my house in Preston(I him stayed at mine's over a few nights) + boyo & mohican kid for inviting to a chinese restaurant & helenification for being nice to talk over the weekend as she kind of reminds me of a very nice auntie I had a while back so is it O.K I can call you "auntie helen" or do you feel cheeky of me saying it.

Right a better post on here. Im compiling my mammoth minutae report for Fb or something.... Ill sort something out as its going to be a long read and will bore people to tears probably.

It was good to meet the following. If Ive forgotten people, its because Im shat with names and not anyother reasons

Resident Paul and Woody.Cool- Great meeting up, Pre R3play should do that more often considering the 'Preston' bond. How paths havent crossed considering the Carboot, nights out places of work etc is amazing? Anyhoo I hadnt seen me fit mate for a while :P

Markopoloman- Bowt bloody time dude! So thats 164 forums we frequent or something, may not have always seen eye to eye but was great to meet you in the flesh at last. Shame didnt have longer, though you did twist my arm are Warlords and then got roundly twonked. and I should have said Hey to Chinnico but he was utterly engrossed in DOOM! by the look of it. Also tales of SID and Chinese meals Woody's Car were muchly appreciated. Wished Id stayed over now, but was cheaper for me to go home each night.

At the bar got cornered by Boggy B, SuperMario, Meaty70 ( and erm erm erm some others I have forgotten sorry 1.80 a pint was distracting. JDandDiet? (didnt say thanks for the games from the Competition on here! Soz)

Spotted Merman womdering around, and introduced wor self.. Thats another with umpteen forums in common.

Then met Mug-Uk, Pforson (worlds biggest bottle of water!), Psj3809 iirc, and someone else by the Pinballs Iirc

Mohican Kid by the Lucky Dip thing, didnt speak to Helensification, not on purpose, promise! you spoke to some of the peeps I was with on saturday though. which was kewl guy with Oscar the grouch t shirt on

Rinoa introduced herself. which was kewl had a quick chat and all. Seemed at this point that people started introducing themselves

Filecore caught me whilst he was on reception (didnt realise he is 17ft 2 tall as was sat down at the time) said are you RMLF.. I thought no one here but us leprechauns' :P and had a quick chat

RetroKingSimon, Witchfinder, Boyo Wild Willy Wilson and his bro! ( Liked Steel Battalion it seems and had a chinwag over hole punches!) ( whupped us at Sensi, though you were severely out passed and out possessed I couldnt hit a cows arse with a Banjo) and Iam sure more on Sunday Sorry if I forgot you!

Whomever I was playing Sensi with on Saturday, they are in the forum photo so Iam assuming they are here. Dan1980 possibly. Bulgaria Vs Germany if it helps

I alsp met some one I haven seen for a long long time. Mike, had a press pass and is on one of the forums (ECM?) and used to be one of me mates from Uni's boyfriend and was is projectionist at Odeon in Preston. Small world indeed! Lots of familiar faces all over the shop, and who is the Dave Murray from Iron Maiden lookalike?

The event was brilliant I cannot stress this enough (with slight niggles)

Massive Venue, Hold it there again. Blackpool as a place may be rubbish, that venue is not, the whole thing was perfect size for the event. PLEASE with Cherries and Icing on hold it there again! (overwhelming response from everyone who i spoke to not mentioned anywhere else was yes another next year same place)

Huge range of everything too much to do in 2 days. I had loads to do still and was more than slightly disappointed when people started packing up at 4pm on Sunday when the event ran til 7pm. ( i can understand people wanting to get off, but for the casuals, it would have been annoying if they only came for 1 day and couldnt get what they wanted to do)

That COD/Halo Multiplayer thing was a waste of space on the floor and could have been better utilised as hardly anyone was on it over the two days. In comparison the titchy Fifa thing was always being played (same stall)

What happened to the Kick Girls on day 2 conspicous by their seeming absence. I know they moved around the corner, but wasnt the greatest of things and the car and the rubbish stand didnt really enthuse... plus I was narked that got disqualified for crashing on the last corner on the WRC challenge thingy. Annoyed doesnt cover it. lol

The Jap Cabs were great, good to see some different games each day, had Felgelkarp pointed out when playing a shooter as part of the competition I think by someone? Mad l33t Skills indeed can they be better spaced next time as really hard for not so mobile people to get in to and around, good to see several 'stickers' and a few chairs around, never got to talk properly to any of them though.

Console Passion was also impossible to get into with me stick :S

The driving games, Table tops and Pinballs were wasted in the small corridor and should have had pride of place in the hall if possible. The Pinballs I couldnt get near on saturday as were 2/3 deep and on Sunday when things were dropping off they started packing up at about 3pm... So only got to play Gorgon River Rapids and Jungle Down.. :(

The Tables especially Bombjack was fun and I hate Bombjack as a rule should have been elsewhere.

The Rooms that side were amazing but a lil 'cold' different atmosphere to the rest and as a 1st timer I felt a lil intimidated by them so didnt go in so much

Advertising around Blackpool was also a bit iffy. had I got off the bus at the Norbreck and not been with someone who knew where they were going, then I would have struggled to find it. Blackpool Tourist Information didnt have anything confirming it was on either! The person I went with was from Blackpool and they had no idea it was on until right at the last minute and would have done the weekend if they had known further in advance.

I want one of those arcade tables.. with slide out controls. Awesome, jaw droppingly awesome. and the cabs from turnarcades were also spot on.

Transport on Sunday was a pain took an hour to get from North Pier to the Norbreck, was gutted cos missed the Sensi Sign up and thats one thing I wanted to play ;(

Am also gutted missed the talks. i wanted to go, but I kept missing them. cos Iam daft. next time maybe.

Enjoyed. lots of multiplayer stuff inc Super Monkey Ball, Warlords, Swos, Mario Kart, Gradius II, Virtua Cop 2, Micro Machines 4 player which was great fun, people got annoyed that I won though. and the Out Run link up was also great. Wacky Races on the Dreamcast wasnt.

Was unsure of bringing stuff cos would have brought Firemen Snatcher and maybe a few other random things to at least shown off, but wasnt sure how the whole thing worked :(

Anyways Iam rambling again now So Ill shut up

I had a good time - knackering but a good time. Not used to standing up all day but helping out Attic Bug in their room was a hoot and a cool room compared to the 'roast-a-thon' going on in the main hall.
  • Good to meet faces old and new and from various forums hither and thither - from the Friday night through to the last goodbyes on the Sunday evening. The Hamilton Suite just looked odd after it had been de-Attic Bugged on the Sunday evening. Some people I only see once a year at the bigger events. Esp. the ultra Southerners like MarkoPoloman and Milton The Seal plus the ultra Northeners from Dumfries (I'm sure they were responsible for most of the 'beer' sold at the event).

I met Sir '86 (C64 graphics artist back in the day) and had a good chinwag about Compunet - and my leeching of C64 demos from it when I used to "work" (ha!) for Paragon Software who specialised in Spectrum/Amstrad conversions of US Gold titles on the C64. This was long before they changed their name to Revolution Software and started concentrating on proper adventure games ;-)

Chatting to Ben Daglish and cheekily requesting the source code to his Atari ST music playback routine :)

Kudos to Mohican Kid for the efforts put into that Lucky Dip and the charity stall. Think I spent a nice wad there and it was all for a good cause. Even handing back some of the stuff I didn't want and paying for more lucky dips :) Once word got around what kind of superb goodies were buried inside that bin, it was difficult to get near the stall :)

A ruck of ZX Spectrum classics for myself, my brother and a few for RCM. Mostly grabbed the ones from my earliest memories so apologies to anyone who saw the trays in Attic Bug's room and went looking for the uber rare stuff by Arctic and other Spectrum pioneers. I has 'em - even the 'Don't Buy This' by Firebird as I bought it as a mickey taking pressie for my brother many moons ago and, as he doesn't visit here, I reckon it'll be one of his mickey-taking pressies for Xmas this year too :)

Replacing my Guardian newspaper subscriber holder thingy with a spankingly new ZX Spectrum one from RetroGT in the corner. And the audio CD they were selling.

The banter in the Chinese with MarkPoloMan, Milton, Boyo, Black Panther and some others whilst waiting for my order to arrive. Watching Boyo complain about 'seepage in his bag' (mostly due to him dropping his food on the floor). Was nice to not walk halfway down the prom to find a few beers and get some takeaway grub two nights running. It was bloody freezing cold on Friday night waiting for a taxi to take us (myself and BP) back to the Norbreck with the food order for those of us still there past midnight on Friday.
Pics on FB - tag away/add away if you so want to. Quite a few already have done so the more the merrier.

Friday - http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2 ... 246abe570c - getting there, no taxis due to them all being used by stag/hen/Everton parties. Bloody long walk up the prom to find hotel. Got lazy and got a taxi from hotel to Norbreck.

Saturday - http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2 ... 1c2589edfd - daytime. Quick wander around Blackpool near the hotel. On a scouting mission to find some food for myself & Attic Bug as our hotel didn't do breakfast until 9am. Then photos of the event.

Saturday - http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=53 ... aid=241568 - evening - SID 80s. Superb as always, whatever incarnation they play in.

Sunday - http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2 ... 2d722cb67a - until the bitter end, including spotting all the smelling pistakes in the R3Play goodbye message :) Cheers to Rinoa & BP for the lift back to Sunny Warrington.

One thing I hated about the weekend most of all was my constant farting.
Its like a allergic reaction.

Was he wearing a smart, mustard-coloured sports jacket? That was moi! For whatever reason, didn't swap names with everyone. Apologies for my ignorance.
